Copied from another thread

"Bebop still is my proof that dubs can be as good and BETTER than SUBS. I would go along to say Baccano! and Black Lagoon would not be the show they are WITHOUT the dubs. You some times need that fing English to make the show work. Psycho-Pass I am fine with a SUB only world for it but surprisingly the DUBs fit and seamless make the show better than I though it would be.

Still there is a Show like Future Diary dub that got pretty much ripped because of it failed to keep up with Yuno's amazing sub work. You win some you lose some but over all many animes pretty much are better because dubs exist for them.

Some like FMA: Brotherhood really because of the world design ... a romantic language makes more sense. Heck that could be leveled too for most Gundam's and AOT too. The design of the world a romantic(AKA English) speech MAKES SENSE. I just hope the trend of better quality continues and this industry gets enough cash to support more actors."

Though it was better here than there.

Excellent Dubs:
Black Lagoon, Spice and Wolf, Witchblade, Angel Beats, Clannad, Burst Angel, Cat Planet Cuties, Chrome Shelled Regios, HOTD, K-ON!, My Bride is a Mermaid, Ouran, Sekirei, A Certain Scientific Railgun, Aria the Scarlet Ammo, Baka and Test, Black Butler, Blood+, Blood C: The Last Dark, Canaan, Claymore, D. Gray Man, Darker than Black, Haganai, Heaven's Lost Property, Infinite Stratos, Okami-san and her Seven Companions, Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne, Rosario + Vampire, Squid Girl, Trinity Blood, Bodacious Space Pirates, Accel World, Ghost Hunt

Good Dubs:
Shuffle, Majikoi-Oh! Samurai Girls, Asumanga Daioh, Blood C, Chrono Crusade, Dance in the Vampire Bund, Demon King Daimao, Fruits Basket, Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, Soul Eater, Vampire Knight, The Familiar of Zero, Sword Art Online, Baccano!, Dream Eater Merry, Welcome to the NHK, Sankarea, Another

Okay Dubs:
Strike Witches, Bamboo Blade, Special A, Deadman Wonderland, Say, "I Love You"

Crappy Dubs:
Please Teacher/Twins, Lucky Star (was almost okay), Nyan Koi

Probably excellent, good, or okay, but I can't really remember:
Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, Ef-A Tale of Memories/Melodies, Elfen Lied, School Rumble, Shakugan no Shana, Blue Excorcist, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Upotte!

I am eagerly awaiting the release of the Toradora, Mayo Chiki, AOT, and a few other dubs that are set to be released later in the year. Subs are great, but I love dubs just the same. Well, as long as they don't suck.

Nice list :0.

A lot of those found in the excellent dubs, Netflix coincidentally carries them or they at least cater to dubs.

I agree with you..and want to add that I think most dubs are decent...Naruto is also a good dub, even tho there are tons who hate the anime. If you like older anime Saint Seiya, Get Backers, Samurai Champloo, Devil May Cry and Big Windup! have good dubs.

For me it easier to tell you what the bad dubs are.. Gintama and Moon Phase..two of the worst that stick in my mind.

Best dubs I've heard are Fullmetal Alchemist (Preferably the 2003 because of Al's old voice, but Brotherhood is also very good) and Fairy Tail.

I've seen and loved to many dubs to list so I'll just show which companies make the best dubs.

Almost anything by FUNimation I've loved. Only exception is Shakugan no Shana season 2 and beyond they didn't match like season 1 did. Really the only time I see someone bashing on their dubs is because of one character voice or they are just weaboos.

VIZ makes some pretty good dubs as well but there's nothing that stands out since it owns two of the Big 3.

Aniplex has hit or miss dubs like SAO.

I wouldn't say the Gintama dub was bad, per say, in terms of voice acting of the characters. It's just... with a show like Gintama it's tricky because of all the reference and cultural aspects of the culture that are present without including a guidebook or something. It can work, such as with Steins;Gate, but in Gintama's case I think it's best left alone.

One of the worst dubs I've seen was from the mid 1990's. The first Birdy the Mighty adaptation OVAs. Fun fact, Birdy was voiced by someone from Real Housewives. She herself was decent, it's just that I thought it'd be something cool to share. Also, the first version was based on the first Birdy the Mighty manga from the 1980's, which the author scrapped and has since remade in the form of Birdy the Mighty II, which the 2008's anime series is adapted from and also has a sequel, Birdy the Might Evolution.

Gintama only had its movie dubbed right?

Which is the smartest, because it does have so many japanese references.

The main issue I had with the Gintama dub, was I had watched every single Gintama episode already. And really after watching that many episodes, any other voice for the characters I loved just didn't fit.

On Topic:

I really liked the Chrono Crusade dub. This may be because I watched it before entering the world of subs.

Saiyuki was decent, despite the fact it had so many male roles that the casting was if you had a dick you had a role. It was Greg Aryes first major role I believe, and mostly from the casting calling local theaters for any males.
