So, Hollywood is adapting a Japanese light novel called All You Need Is Kill to the big American screen. Good book, about a Japanese soldier in a war against aliens dying in battle, to only wake up the day before each time he dies.

Tom Cruise will be playing the Japanese soldier, who is now an American.

I repeat, Tom Cruise will be playing the role of an American soldier who was originally Japanese in the books.

Well, at least their height is about the same. Not like that time Tom Cruise played a 6'5 Jack Reacher in the Jack Reacher movies, which was also based on a really good series of books.

The US Weekly Shonen Jump is currently running the manga version of All You Need is Kill. It's pretty good and I can see it making a good movie, with or without Tom Cruise, though I'm surprised they didn't choose a younger actor. (I'm willing to bet they'll be choosing younger actresses for the female roles.)

Yeah, we've talked about it previously. I'm a fan of the book. It's a very quick read, and once it gets going it's pretty great. So, I've not been thrilled about this Tom Cruise adaptation.

However... this new trailer, even though it's fairly different from the book, makes me hopeful that it has kept the spirit of the book.

It kinda bothers me that they changed the title; it does not Sound as unique anymore.
