Wait what? Why do I continually keep running into these posts of yours? Aren't you supposed to be concerned as a fellow human being? Are you that dead inside?
What you said is extremely inappropriate. I can't believe someone would just so casually fling comments insinuating that it's perfectly fine to kill yourself.

This is a public forum. I am allowed to post. You can just ignore what I write. Don't judge others by your own standards. That is just really disgusting. I didn't casually fling comments. I am completely serious. People should do what they want. That is personal opinion. If you have opposing viewpoints, good for you. That is why it is called an opinion. Please refrain from replying as I can see you are throwing around arbitrary arguments. Good day.

Unbelievable. Did you somehow think that saying it's an opinion would exonerate you from the responsibility of what you said. Did you know that Hitler had an opinion as well? It led to the 2nd world war and concentration camps for Jews.
I'm not judging you on my standards alone, but by what's considered morally correct in society. If I said that I kick half dead animals and stomp little chicks, I would acknowledge that my opinions make me a reprehensible person.

It's a public forum and you may continue to write on it, but then in turn accept that not always are your opinions accepted and that people are free to express their discontent with it.

Everyone states "It's a forum have your own opinion, but fuck you for being honest with your own opinion."

Oh jeeez how utterly correct that is. The absolute irony there.

I'll just say, it's nice how you're informing and looking out for other people like that. But arguing back doesn't help and not everybody will agree with you. It's better to stomp on it and let it go because that's just how it is.

To everybody else: All he did was post a rant, don't take it so personally.

Annoyed by people who take it too far eh? Happens sometimes around my end. Knowing me, I really don't like arguing with people, and hoping the negative energy surrounding them disappear. Just want things to run smoothly.

"You people only care about Anime and Anime only"
Well yeah, I have tried other things and they are just boring, so why should I care about them? I won't hate on you fans of those things, but don't go hating on us for liking nothing but Anime either.

Oh, Anime-Wise, you shouldn't blame a person for not liking anime. I like anime too. but It doesn't mean that I despise those who don't like anime. Everybody has different taste. No need for hissy-fits.

Recently, I've noticed a lot of people on the forums just being.. Weird. For instance, I noticed on some forums there's people who are "elitists" because they watch every anime they can in every language available. Or, we have people who try to be some of the anime characters they watch. This is part of the reason I never tell people I secretly watch anime for hours and hours- because the stereotypes are true. Some of you guys legitimately only care about anime and anime only. It's just like when I played WoW and people were enveloped so much in the game- 5 years had passed and they didn't realize that they didn't accomplish anything at all.
Don't get me wrong- I love anime, cosplays, Japanese music and all that good stuff! I'm just saying I'm annoyed that you could really only care about this.
Also, the manga elitists are getting way too full of themselves. Nobody cares if you read the manga or if the manga was "better". I don't like the imagination being half-assed.
Rant over. I leave you with this.

So just to make sure I'm understanding the rant correctly (mind you this is my interpretation on it, so by all means call me out if I am reading something wrong:) You have been exposed to both ends of the fanbase, and it scratches you the wrong way that they can put that much time and effort into the interest itself?

I have a few comments about this thread.

1.) Nah, it doesn't bother me too much that many anime fans (idk the percentage) tend to be downright freaks. I just call it for what it is and move about my day.

2.) I love the rage this thread has caused.

3.) Using phrasings like "this is my opinion" or "well that's your opinion" is pretty redundant. I think most people here can tell when something is or isn't an opinion. No need to really state the obvious. Also, always be prepared to have your opinion ridiculed.

4.) I would like to say this about the idea of being judged by someone else's standards: lol get over it. I make judgments about people on my terms every day. It's part of being a person. To deny this is to run away from reality.

The fact that you're annoyed about something that has nothing to do with you is hilarious to me. As long as they're not hurting someone else or themselves, then I say go for it. What these people do on their own time is up to them, and in my opinion everyone has their little quirks so more power to them.

I'm with the OP here, their are people who take it way to far. Like any hobby theirs a point were it becomes unhealthy and you need to step back and take a break. Luckily it only seems like younger fans doing this, and they all seem to eventually grow out of it. It's just sad they don't realize the time they are wasting and are missing out on awesome times and self growth.

I feel like i can address OP better if i do it point by point, so this might get kinda long....srry

so the first point is " elitist anime watchers" this will arise in any community. some people have to be better or at a "high lvl" then others, to "separate them selves from the commoners" as it were. honestly, just ignore them, they only do it to cover for their own insecurity and feel better about them selves. even if they say something that bothers you, if you argue, you only enable them to spew more garbage( same goes for any community)

next is, "people acting like anime characters" it is also natural human psyche to assimilate traits from important figures or actions of iconic people. this is no different from people who imitate Hollywood celebs, which is widely accepted as new norms here in america. personally. i'm not fond of either scenario, but that's a choice made by the person, and the consequences are theirs to deal with, be it imitating Kim kardashian or ika musame( chances are they will regret it latter any way- see chunibyou anime-)

third is you "hide your power level"(love of anime/being an otaku) because of the the stereotypes of being an otaku. i'm gonna be honest with you. fuck that, you should be proud to like what you like and not give a fuck what anyone says. if someone passes you by because you love anime, they didn't deserve to know you in the first place, same is true for ANYTHING( sports, gaming, music, etc). no matter what anyone says, i am who i am, and i will never hide from myself and neither should anyone else.

fourth is, "you're annoyed people only care about anime". well, i'm a biased to this, because i am one of those people. i only care about being an "otaku". if i'm not watching anime, i'm playing a jrpg, or studying Japanese culture or language, etc. pretty much my entire being is otaku( or "weeaboo, if you prefer, seeing as i am white), but i am who i am and i'm, proud to be.
BUT i ask, what is wrong with that? why is it wrong for someone to give their 100% to something they care about? is it bad for a football player to give his all for football? what else SHOULD i/we care about? i also don't understand how that choice effects you.
*-edit-after reread this, it sounds kinda extreme, but i can't think of another way to word it. maybe i should mention i'm solely speaking in terms of a hobby/life style. you should still...you know...work, eat, and sleep, and other general living your life stuff hahaha.*

and finally "manga elitist" . this one is a little difficult, because like the "Great sub v. dubs war" there are both nonsense point and legitimate ones. as an avid manga reader, i can tell you objectively some manga are far better then there anime. this is mainly due to a shitty adaptation(a resent example is mahou sensou, the LN is really good, but it got a bad adaptation). on the other hand some times you go get super manga hipsters who say the manga is better just to put them selves above you(see the first point)

and done. hope that all made sense, srry it was so long. feel free to let me know is i miss/misunderstood something or if anyone agrees/disagrees with me, i would be interested to hear a response

I don't see how or why you should get annoyed by these people when you can just ignore them.

I've had dozens of the most condescending conductors in the world telling me how to play music the way he/she sees it best; and you'd think I'd learn a thing or two about getting annoyed by what you call an elitist.
