Couldn't find a discussion thread and Black Laggon starts Today on Toonami!!

Synopsis

The story follows a team of mercenaries known as Lagoon Company, who smuggle goods in and around the seas of Southeast Asia. Their base of operations is located in the fictional city of Roanapur in Thailand, and they transport goods in the PT boat Black Lagoon. Lagoon Company does business with various clients, but has a particularly friendly relationship with the Russian crime syndicate Hotel Moscow. The team takes on a variety of missions - which may involve violent firefights, hand-to-hand combat, and nautical battles - in various Southeast Asian locations.

Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage

Okajima Rokuro - now known almost exclusively as 'Rock' - was once a typical, put-upon Japanese businessman. Then, on a routine business trip, he was kidnapped and ransomed by the Lagoon Company: a band of mercenary pirates operating out of the crime-riddled city of Roanapur. Abandoned by his bosses, he joined the Lagoon Company. Now he must try and stay afloat amongst the ever-shifting politics of the criminal underworld, while simultaneously avoiding death at the hands of his quick-tempered, gun-toting co-worker, 'Two Hand' Revy.

Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail

Roberta, the terrorist-turned-maid that made her appearence in the first season of "Black Lagoon", returns in this five-episode OVA series—and this time, all bets are off!

Roberta's benefactor, the patriarch of the Lovelace clan, is murdered during a political rally. The assassin's trail soon leads back to Roanapur—so now she has returned on a mission of vengeance! However, close behind her is the new patriarch, Garcia, as well as Roberta's apprentice (and maid), Fabiola Iglesias. As the body count of Roberta's bloody rampage mounts, forces from within the corrupt island (which includes the Lagoon Company), as well as overseas converge on what threatens to escalate into all-out war!

To add to it, I quite liked the show. English voice acting does very well. For alot of it, true to the manga, even keeping some of the more controversial parts. There is some divergence that did detract a little for me from the second season without giving any spoilers.

Roberta's Blood Trailer, was so glad to see that come out. In the manga, it was a cut above the entire rest of the story. The anime does seem to not feel as dark with parts of it broken by action and pacing, but other parts, exceeds the manga alot.

Tough to really talk much without having to spoiler etc. Have on the special edition sets so won't need Toonami to watch ^.^

What, this series did not have a thread. Blasphemy. Thanks for putting it together FLjerry2011.

@stark700 - yes, it is dubbed on Toonami. I own the Blu-rays and notice they bleep some F-bombs, edit some too, but the S word, A word, and others are left intact. The series is great action and a lot of fun characters. I highly recommend it to action fans and it is very accessible for westerners too. Guns, swearing, booze, babes, violence, assassins, you name it.

IF Black Lagoon setting is real (and there are places as such) it seems that English would be the prevalent language.

Man, I hope Toonami doesn't shorten its OP, but unfortunately, I have a feeling it will.

One of my favorite anime and glad it's being aired!

Second the bit about being glad it's being aired.

I've watched both dub and sub. The dub does a really good job. it probably helps that within the show everyone is supposed to be speaking English. as you realize when some of the characters head to Japan and encounter language barriers.

There are bits in the subs where the awkward language is amusing or just seems more anime-ish but that's the usual 'I've watched too many subs syndrome'

the only voice I liked better in the Subs was the Kukris-on-giant-thongs Thai lady's

It is an absolutely awesome anime (and manga). Revy dealing with the guy who was bragging about his pistol was absolutely priceless. It somehow even funnier if you actually know firearms (because you realize that he is completely delusional).

I just love the bored and disgusted look on her face as he monologues.

The funny thing is, I know plenty of shooters who will get the same look when someone does this in real life. Generally speaking, people who do that kind of thing really do seem to be compensating for something (usually poor shooting skills). It's one thing to express an opinion (or give a review) when asked for one. It is another to brag about your firearm to people who didn't even ask your opinion.
