do you find the 2-5 minute summary at the beginning of some anime episodes annoying?
Posted 3/23/14
i get it, some anime creators use this tactic because they don't have enough manga content or whatever to fill up the 20 minutes length or maybe they think most of us have bad memory. but i find the 2-5minute summary very annoying, i could watch an episode a month later and still remember the previous episode...

i noticed this in hunterxhunter and space brothers over the past few months. in the case of space brothers, they just use the same summary over and over.... "dah dah dah born under a lucky star, unlucky star"...

I agree, it irritates me. Especially when I'm marathoning it and literally just watched what they're going over.

Sometimes it annoys me and sometimes it doesn't. I watch a lot of anime and a recap here or there doesn't hurt. Depends on the genre, though. I can remember action stuff easily, but details from things like rom coms and dramas and sci fi doesn't quite stick to my brain as well. But in action anime, yeah, it annoys me. That's typically where I see all the recaps, lol.

If it's a recap from the previous episode, I don't mind it too much. If they're just filling space with the same generic "introduction" before the opening sequence, then I get a little more annoyed.

Either way, I'd prefer it to be all new stuff.

Nah, I don't mind. It is really nice when you waited a week and I think it helps bring the intensity back up to where it was at the end of the last episode. It also tends to replay some of the best scenes that I want to see as many times as possible. The summary always hypes me up!

Yep. I understand why it's there, but considering it's probably only been two minutes to a week since I watched the last episode, it's pretty annoying.

depending on the anime or if it like a part one of three or when they want you to remember something that happened like 30 episodes ago

I understand why it is there, but it does get quite annoying. Especially when you marathon said anime.

im always watching multiple anime in parallel, so at times I lose touch of plots. so its always good to have a refresher.

It's nice if you're watching it as it comes out, with a week in between each episode.

It starts to become a problem when it does what Bleach did and takes up half of every episode.

I mean there are worse things, but I agree with pretty much everyone else, when I'm watching a show it usually means I've been paying attention to what's been happening so I don't need that refresher, but then again how hard is it to click 3 mins ahead?

it isn't hard.

the problem is not the clicking part... it's the CR video, when you click ahead, it freezes and then pixelates itself, which isn't a pleasant experience.

and then sometimes you click too far ahead, so you have to click back, then you have to experience that unpleasant feeling twice... or three times...

then you have to do this for the opening... see where I'm going? or am I the only one who is fussy about this???
