Sounds interesting, maybe some day I'll visit one, but not necessarily be regular or anything.
As for the thoughts about them, I'd say if they can make money at it, go ahead and do it. It sound cool. I've been to restaurants were the waiters and waitress were all instructed to be total jerks to you, and it was tons of fun, so I bet a maid/butler café would be enjoyable too.

I'd be a regular at that cafe. But only if she can do the 'Moe Moe Kyun!'

A maid or butler cafe would be incredible as long as the maids and butlers were cute, adorable, or at the very least, extremely attractive. I am lucky that I do not have a cafe with beautiful staff abound, for I would probably be broke and broken hearted on a daily basis.

The idea is very cute and theoretically I'd love to go to a butler cafe, but I think I would explode from having too many attractive males in the same room. That and my uncontrollable love towards Sebastian from Black Butler... It'd be too much!

To each their own, but as a hierarchy-hater, I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself at a maid cafe. I'd feel like a terrible person for letting the employees put themselves beneath me, even if I knew it was just an act. Give me a typical diner where I can chat with my fellow semi-disgruntled service-industry workers honestly and as equals.

They provide entertainment to various people and i never saw anything wrong with that. Mostly the prices can be quite expensive though some places do have reasonable rates if you know where to go. One place i went to had various packages i paid about 4000yen (About $40) and that got me an omlette, drink, and 30 minutes to play a game against one of the maids and take a photo with her which she signed for me.

If you go to a maid cafe in Japan one thing i'd recommend is either going with some Japanese friends or knowing some Japanese. They often have foreigners working as maids as they satisfy a certain niche for some guys so if they see foreigners come in they'll probably send her to you. You don't normally get to pick who you want unless you are a serious regular. I've found the most success in knowing some Japanese and going with Japanese friends they'll be less intimidated in sending a Japanese maid to your table.

You don't get to pick what food you want? Pffft. That is ridiculous and the price is, too. For 40 dollars I'd rather go to a restaurant and actually be able order something. :/

Well no they are set meals lol. They don't offer many kinds of foods at a Maid Cafe they are normally easy to cook things because the maids make them themselves. The Omlettes are pretty popular they draw a big heart in ketchup and write messages and stuff. 40 dollars is pretty cheap for Japan when it comes to eating out and especially a Maid Cafe where they often charge huge premiums for photos with Maids and extras.
