How do you feel about the anime fandom in general?

Synopsis:
I for one find a growing population of hypocrites, band-wagoners, spiteful people, and "certified experts" in the anime fandom.

We have those who people who jump from bashing an upcoming English dub to praising it the next second *cough cough Attack on Titan dub*.

We also have those people who are too afraid to express their own opinions and jump on the bandwagon because they fear social criticism and the glorious barrage of downvotes. Embrace the downvotes. Downvotes give your comments pretty blue texts that read "Show Hidden Comment." Reverse effect really considering I love reading those comments.

Another addition to the lovely fandom are spiteful people who attack another person just to be mean or have the my way or highway mentality. They tend to intentionally start flame wars for sh*ts and giggles. In essence, they are close-minded too.

Last but not least we have our "certified experts" which are probably my favorite to come across. By "certified expert," I do not mean people with valid arguments or comments on a given topic, but people who are a-holes about it or are plain arrogant.

Those are my thoughts. What are yours?

I do not really understand them. I mean sure, you like a certain anime, cool. But, it is a television show for god-sakes, no need to go crazy over something like that

Yeah and sometimes people often go way too far with the shipping or the OTP thing, and they make the relationships seem to graphic.

I don't mind. Even though some people can go just a "little" overboard.

That pretty much sums up my opinion on them. They're too intense for me. And it's true; the ones with interesting view points and valid arguments do not share them, are ignored, or are sent negative feedback. I don't like to share my views, mainly because I know I'll get bashed on them and frankly, I don't want to sit around arguing with people about a matter that is not life or death, when I could be enjoying my anime as is. They can get pretty vicious.
I'm neutral and open to all arguments directed towards anime, but I would never bash on something and make it fact instead of opinion. Lordy.

I honestly love all the fan-art, but I never read fanfiction.

It's kinda disturbing when white people know more about Japanese culture more than they know about their own American culture.

In my experience, there are many more perfectly sane, enjoyable people in anime fandom than there are assholes. The assholes are just a vocal minority. It's the same anywhere you go. Nothing new here.

And for the record, it is perfectly fine to change your opinions about a dub. I don't see a problem with someone who expected a certain dub to be bad, but then, once they actually heard the dub, changed their mind. Sure, it's a bit annoying to hear a dub being bashed before it even premiers, but don't fault people for simply changing their opinion. There's nothing wrong with that.
