Generally the anime community is really nice.... but there are some people out there that aren't, just like every other community out there =3. Overall, I say the anime community, on here at least, is a nice place to be~

Every time I feel like giving up on studying/passing the Japanese Language Proficiency Exam (N4) I say to myself,
"Hey! Don't waste time here! A fourteen-year-old anime otaku could pass this!!! What are you doing???"

That kicks my butt enough to get me going.

Anime has gotten a lot more mainstream recently so there's such a huge difference in the people in the community. Obviously there is going to be some bad seeds when there are so many people, but for the most part it's good.

The anime community is really something, but you can't just group them all in a single category or Otaku's. Here are the main types of Otaku

1. Hardcore watchers- These are guys that only watch anime 24/7. They don't have a preference so long that it's anime.
2. Mainstream watchers- People who only watch what's popular and don't care for the older anime.
3. Casual watchers- The average Otaku who watches their preferences and do it daily, but not to the extreme.
4. Multi-leveled extremist- People consumed by anime and have it all the time in some form, like drawing characters, reading manga, watching anime, and even does what characters in manga or anime.
5. Dual manga and anime watchers/readers- People who are knowledgeable and can list a lot of variety. These are the people who can argue very well on discussion boards. They're not too obsessed, but anime is a fair part of their lives.

For me I only like the Otaku's who are average and normal who sometimes read manga sometimes don't because they can tell me a lot about it. They're not too annoying either and I can talk well to them. I tend to stay away from the mainstream and obsessed people because i like to give the smaller more unnoticed anime a chance to leave a good impression, but I still watch them because some are good. Not everyone in the anime community are nice but most are. Just depends on who you talk to.

I'm definitely the multi-leveled extremist Otaku:D

As for the anime community, I love it. The people on there are nice and friendly

Can't really vote since it goes both ways some pople are downright batshit crazy and others and very helpful and chill and cool people. So it's like walking into a unknown room you don't know what you will find lol

Everyone is nice for the most part but dont critize a popular series or u get hung. Also the people who work in the business can be really jerks in my experience. it seems once they make it, they forget where they come from.

The anime community is fantastic, and you can express your inner thoughts and opinions without being ashamed or embarrassed. So yeah, it's an awesome group where you can be yourself and have fun

From my experience, people who like anime are generally pretty chill, friendly people and easy to get along with.

yeah. they're cool.

but like most people's (in real life) tastes are different from mine... can never find anyone who has heard of flowers of evil or cuticle detective, those two shows are like my two most favourites.

Cuticle Detective Inaba is one of my favourite comedies! I've never laughed so much at an anime, I love it!

Hit or miss for me. Some folks fit into the stereotype of an anime fan, and I just don't click with that. Sorry guys.

I think the anime community's too diverse to be clumped into one like that. It's an awful lot like a bad teenage movie high school.
You have the elitist anime fans, the mainstream-only anime fans, the cutesy anime fans, the still weeaboos, the casual anime fans, the cosplayers, the multi-mediums, the hipsters, the fanartists, thug anime fans...
And everyone fights with everyone depending on what site you go on to chat. :I
Crunchyroll is one of the few where there isn't much conflict, probably because it's so discussion based and really hard to stand out as an individual here.
But on Tumblr...man, I've seen people get ripped for silly mistakes, acting cute, saying the wrong thing in the wrong crowd, shipping the wrong people...

Completely agree, the community is far too diverse to be clumped into one group. I like many parts of the overall community but dislike other parts.
