Excuse me, but America is a multicultural society.

It is not white only, nor has it been, nor will it ever be.

Anime characters are cartoons, but if we want to be honest - yes, their coloring (hair/eyes) is more "white", and if they're drawn more realistically, many a time they are drawn with features that are more "Caucasian" than "Asian".

And one last thing, Caucasian does not only mean "white". Race is based upon features, NOT skin color.

Yes, yes I see that. But what I meant was a stereotypical "Ideal", "American" girl. That's what my neighbor was referring to.
It is very multi-cultural and diverse here, especially where I live. I did not mean to look past that.

that is what i ment too. thank you for putting what i think into words

asian people in general tend to be shy and reserved in nature; i think it's part of our culture and how we're raised to be. of course there are exceptions.

but like back in my culture, people think i'm like the best example of how a young person should behave; I don't say anything, I don't speak out of turn, I am polite and dont swear... (when in reality, I'm actually just an introvert)
in australia, however, people think i'm a snob because i don't talk to them... (when in reality, i'm just an introvert)

it's really fascinating to me, like how people can perceive me differently based on cultural influences.

you can find shy people anywhere, really.

American girls will never be like Japanese girls. Why ? mostly because of culture. Now when it comes to shy girls in anime, well I think sometimes its a little over exaggerated. I've met some shy people but they dont act the same like in anime. I think in anime some characters seem to be overly shy, not saying that real people arent, its just what I've noticed.

Ok, lets sort this out:
1. Assume that Anime girls are like Japanese girls.
2. Assume that Japanese girls are like Anime girls and are shy.
Question: Why aren't American girls shy like Japanese girls?
Answer: Assuming the previous two statements are true, the answer would be because they aren't Japanese girls.

You win.

End thread.

I had always thought that anime characters were based on westerners. They don't really look asian to me.

I always thought the Simpsons were aliens. They don't look American to me.

Also, an anime vs IRL comparison as done by Japanese people

With you saying "why do anime girls look like american girls" we all know what your implications are.

ill tell you what my mommy told me "never assume anything."
there are some anime girls look like latina girls i know. i have friends in every race.

Lmao, that is possibly the stupidest reference I've come across on here. What are you, five? And then on top of that you have to type in the golden reply "I have friends in every race"...

Good lord.

And yes, while Japanese, or even Asian people do tend to be more reserved and perhaps more "shy", that does not mean every single one is.

While searching the world wide web, found this amusing pic
biased for sure, but I think it pertains to this topic, since RL girls aren't 2d girls.

RL is more complicated

What are these so-called "American" girls like?

I've been called one, even more specifically -- a "Jersey girl," before and I'm really not sure what I did to be labeled as such. I wasn't even born or raised in America, but apparently, I'm nothing close to being what a "Filipina" is or should be.. *shrug*

As part German and a man who upholds grammar due to my vocation as a writer, I found that offensive. Not really, but still. Don't do it again. -Waggles my finger at you.-

Hmm. Well, I love Japanese women. I love American women. Russian, Native American, Indian, Jewish, Chinese, African, Canadian. Shy or loud. Introvert and extrovert. I love them all. I don't question why they are that way. I adore them because of it.
