So I am just going to post this here:
Sekai Project Enters Manga Publishing Market with GATE.

For those of you that don't know about Sekai Project they publish and localize Visual Novels (VN's). And as the article states are now entering the Manga publishing market with GATE, which when I first heard about this I was confused not so much because of the series they chose to start this with but rather that they are doing it at all.

Simple as to why... Anime is generating a lot of interest so Sekai figures enough sales to make money with it. I think it's a shame the light novels won't be translated and made available.

With any luck within the next year or two Yen Press or some other publishing company will pick the LN up for translation. Hell, even Strike the Blood is coming out in a month or two and it aired liked 3 years ago, didn't think that was gonna happen.

I hope Yen Press picks up the novel instead, LN is only an adaptation of it.

Why did they use Chuka instead of Tuka?

New chapter of Gate is out on alphapolis. A lot of political intrigue. Pina is a pig. The prince is butt hurt. And the Emperor chokes on a pretzel. And no chapter next month. Damn cliffhangers. Also, expect translation in the next few days.

I loved how they explained the screw up by the crown prince during the procession.

With so many new supporters for him (that he believes he deserves), this is going to be very interesting.

I contacted sekkai project and asked them to license the light novel instead of the manga and this is the response I got:

It seems that if we ask sekkai project more, they might actually license it

Shame they aren't a 'fan translator group' anymore But good for them, that they can earn money now by translating. Hope they (or someone else) will translate GATE ^^

Very good news indeed. I'm happy that somebody is at least looking into the possibility of being tortured via translating the novels.

Happy to have found this thread. When I came across the anime on CR, I was stoked! As the OP stated, I too am a huge military fan, I never served, but I have major respect for all those that have. I collected GIJOE figures when I was little and I used to have imaginary battles just like what's depicted in this series. I'm just starting to check out the manga and am really excited to see this anime take off into a few seasons. This should totally become a live action HBO special, one that could rival Game of Thrones lol. All of the politics and the horrors of war would make an excellent live drama. This recent episode with the Apocalypse now reference was so good. I definitely hope more people get into this so the series continues.

Yo JOE!!!

I really like the anime and the manga. I am still really bugged by the idea that the SDF author honestly thinks they could take out US spec ops or that we wouldn't be utilizing counter-intelligence equipment as well as the shitload of military satellites we have up in orbit. I get that it's a nationalism thing but my god the SDF are like the middle-school JV league benchwarmers compared to the United State's military capabilities (both in modern and covert warfare).

The manga got better after they went back into the Gate although I already know that if they try using the US instead of China or Russia in the anime at the bathhouse (which was hinted in the previews) then they are gonna get quite a bit of flak for it. I've gotten caught up to the manga and it's been a fun read. I definitely like the manga being a lot darker in tone than the anime, which I think really hurts the anime to be honest. I am curious as to where they will try to end the anime though to hint towards a second season (which I can definitely see this series getting, especially with how far the LN's are and how much of the material that has been covered so far).
