Damn, I thought we were talking about something else when I saw the title of the thread.

On topic, yes. I look forward to the day where I don't even need my cargo pockets to carry my music player. And with the advances in technology surely we'll find better ways to make things. For example we could make materials in smaller sizes ten or so years down the road.

I'd flip shit if gpu's got smaller but more powerful in the future. Have you seen a GTX Titan? Bitches are huge.

Get your mind out the gutter Zach. For God's sake.

Mostly, yes. There's a few exceptions, and to be honest I get a little excited when thinking of future AR platforms.

nope. prefer a decent sized screen to watch movies on... hate watching them on small phones.

I wish for holograms and Virtual reality. the current technology's slow and boring.

I think maybe for certain components of devices, because it makes it easier to make more powerful devices. But too small is just annoying. I was using this flash drive that was literally the size of a thumbnail, and it was way to easy to lose. Devices should be sized optimally for human use. I think the way forward now is not miniaturization, but integration of technology into everyday objects, like kitchen counters you can use to look up recipes, houses that learn what temperature and light level you like, and what kind of music you want to hear, that sort of thing. And wearable devices that are integrated into your clothes. Ooo, smart trains with personalized entertainment, etc... I like thinking about this kind of thing.

These days it seems like phones are increasing in size. However, the Surface and tablets and such are good for portability and ease of access although I still prefer to stick to a laptop for that. For whatever reason, I just never really got into tablets and such.

I'm... I'm not sure... With things like my MP3 player, yes, I'm happy about that being miniature, but keyboards, mice, console gaming pads... No, I like those chunky, I like to have some weight and heft in them.

It takes me ages to find a decent mouse because all of them nowadays are so light or tiny.

Hahaha! I came in here thinking this was a very inappropriate thread, well well, -.-!

And yeah sure they are, but I like somethings to be big...PC's, Tv's -.- also the phone it has reached a point where if it was to become smaller, it would only be problematic, so it's fine as-is now.

I think Its a good thing to an extent, The raspberry pi is the one new tech that I've had my eye on.

A small portable PC Basically. I'd like to see how much it evolves over the years.

I think its good for a few things however what should not get smaller are....and some are obvious

Televisions
Speakers
Computers(a bigger one can have more cooling fans)
Game consoles (same reason as the Computer)
Mobile phones(they are small enough)
I-pads(they are a perfect size any smaller would make them harder to watch movies on)

these are my opinions

Also portable music devices can go micro sized for all I care just a little screen and a play button would do me just fine as I don't need to look at it because I only add music I enjoy so there is no need to skip a song

I thought of something else when I read the title, like everyone else did. lol.

Anyhow, I do think miniaturization is a very good thing. The more stuff we can pack into less space the better we'll be.

I've seen it and my inner geek wants it. My inner hobo laughs at my inner geek though.

Anyway my thoughts on the topic:

I'm personally all for electronics becoming smaller. Too a point. Smaller tends to mean they can sometimes break more easily. I'm a clumsy big ass American fool, I don't need things to break easily.

Of course, I don't see things getting TOO much smaller than they are now anytime soon at least. For what most people use their phones for, they actually tend to go for bigger screens rather than smaller. Computer parts if anything get bigger rather than smaller meaning there is sometimes actually issues of running into problems with space, other stuff like handheld consoles (3DS + Vita etc etc) probably wouldn't get smaller because well you don't want to play games on smaller screens right? I could see maybe regular consoles getting a bit smaller, but I remember when they did that with the PS slim or whatever it had heating issues so again they may not.

In short, I don't see anything getting too much smaller but I also can't really think of anything that NEEDS to be any smaller.
