NO SPOILERS PLEASE!!!

Hey, guys. I must be the densest person who has tried to read the Higurashi series. Even after all of the research I've done in trying to figure out the proper way to read this, I still don't know if what I'm doing is correct or not.

Basically, I have only read the first "Abducted by Demons" volume, and have only read the first chapter of the second volume of "Abducted by Demons."

My confusion comes from the Question and Answer stories. I don't know which volumes and arcs they are supposed to be. Is the first of each arc the Question and the second from each arc the Answer? Or is the first few arcs the Questions (as in both the first and second volumes of each arc) and the later arcs the Answer arcs?

I want to know if it is okay to continue reading the second volume of "Abducted by Demons" and simply continue on to "Cotton Drifting," "Curse Killing," and so forth, or to start picking up the first volumes of the subsequent arcs if that is the correct way to read this.

I appreciate any and all input on this. I seriously don't understand why I can't comprehend how this story is supposed to be experienced!

Since I myself wouldn't know this information off of the top of my head (It's been several years since I've read the manga), I just googled it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Higurashi_When_They_Cry_chapters
This seems to be the best answer I can find ~ (Yes Abducted by Demons is the first one)
The whole Question/Answer arcs can get a little confusing, but if you don't give up reading, it'll pay off in the end.

Edit: Link is 100% Spoiler free! Just has the books listed in order, and information about Japanese and American releases.

Yeah I looked at this Wikipedia page already during my research and came to a conclusion that this would be the "proper" way to read it. But other sources around the internet seem to say otherwise.

I certainly don't intend to give up on reading it by any means! I just want to make sure I'm reading it correctly!

Thanks for the input!!

You read all of the question arcs in order first, and then all the answer arcs in order after that. I don't have the time to look up which are which right now, but the question arcs are meant to all be read first. They will be intentionally confusing. Reading the Answer arcs later will help you make more sense of it, but the story is told with all the question parts first. In that list it may help to go by release dates.
