There's a million services these days for downloading games, so you have to look around for the best deals. But in general, Steam is the most important thing you can have. Anything you buy, hard copy or otherwise, can be loaded into steam so that you'll always have access to it as long as you don't lose that email.

I depends on your preference really. 90% of the time when you buy a game online you will be able to re-download it again especially with steam. If your the type of person who likes physical copies then you should buy discs, but i personally download all of my games from steam. I have an origin account but i don't recommend them.

Steam is great, Origin is not.

Steam and Origin are both excellent services. You should get games like TF2, CS:GO, and Garry's Mod

What are your favourite games? Don't worry about genres. What games did you play and love?

ULTIMATE ADVICE!!!!!! Okay your gonna have 2 main things to concider.

If it's from a service like steam you get the GUARANTEE of it being a working brand spanking new piece of merchandise. Something happens to the instal files? Just redownload.

BUT If you have a disk you can buy a USED game for a reduced price ( there is no such thing as a used Download so with steam those prices aren't going down anytime soon) The ONLY down side about disks is that it's most likely gonna need to instal some files onto your HDD AND if it's a multiplayer game or even some other games like I dunno one of the bat but i've put Used CD' into my pc to only be greeted to a "Enter SERIAL NUMBER" screen which is most of the time a "One-Time Use" code so your basically f'd unless you can go buy a code somewhere. The fat cats wanna take all of our money ^~^ so they both have there good and bads but if you've got the cash i'd recommend the download side of things.

Buy rare games or games you believe that will become rare as hard copies. The rest are generally offered online. Just try not to be a fool for sales or you'll have hundreds of games in your "to play list after I retire."

As other say it is preference. I don't keep game plastic covers, except for rare games, because they are just clutter to me that doesn't look nice on a shelf compared to books. I highly prefer things like Steam, but if you just have to hold something physical then buy all means go for it. Many PC games aren't even offered with discs - if you're fine having a selective library then have a blast.

the games I played on PC growing up were the Hasbro games like Putt-Putt, Pajama Sam, Freddy Fish, Spy Fox and the backyard games. I also played the sims games up to recent. Doom 3 when it hit PC , DoD and CS up til when steam came out off and on. I think I played a lil bit of everything you know but im more into the multiplayer games like WoW and Dota 2 which I started playing few days ago. I wish steam had empire earth I used to play that a lot online.

If you want an MMO, Guild Wars 2 gets good reports and the new Elder Scrolls Online game is coming very soon. Team Fortress 2 is free to play and has a huge, dedicated community. You might also want to try other online co-op or team based games, like League of Legends. Loadout is another good, free to play online FPS.

One player games that have been really good lately are everywhere. Just keep an eye out for steam sales, watch the previews and see what looks good. There's literally more than you could ever play. You'll find some good, cheap stuff.

All those Kickstarter ones aren't released yet. They've been approved for release on Steam and their releases should be sprinkling late this year through 2015.

None of them are cutting in terms of graphics so if you do build a computer now, you should be fine to play any of those. Here's another turn-based strategy RPG.

King's Bounty series

Heroes of Might and Magic series

Soul Saga says June 2014 on the Kickstarter page

Dragon Fin Soup say Fall 2014

and if you like turn based RPG games, I wouldn't be surprised if you would like something like Civilization
