Wow, I can't believe White Album 2 and Hajime no Ippo didn't make it. Seriously underrated anime.

Unfortunately it is clear that a show needs to be popular to have a fighter's chance at getting into this. As much as I LOVE Ippo(seriously, my third favorite show of Winter 2014 when it was all said and done), let's face facts, its discussion thread was a ghost town.

Hell sports shows in general did really bad at getting in.......

Sweet, Kyousougiga made it in with a decent number of votes.

More people need to go watch Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta though, apparently.

IKR, people are really missing out. That last arc of Rising was just so amazing. It blew almost everything else out of the water for me. And you know what else ........ Kamogawa Genji>>>>>>>2D kun.

Well, I knew it was coming, but still disappointed Flowers of Evil missed the cut. One of the best of the year eliminated via rotoscope. Also would have liked to see Noucome in there, but it's definitely not a winner -- not too distraught about it.

But Flowers of Evil, man. Awkward, distressing, uncomfortable, exciting, creative, and beautiful. Honestly though, I'm not even sure I would have known what to do with it if it made it in. How do I go about comparing a show like this to other shows? Practically every show that made the cut was more enjoyable than Flowers of Evil, and yet through the entire show, it felt like something special was happening. There were scenes where the characters spent like 10 minutes literally walking, with no dialogue or action at all -- just walking. And yet, I was deep in thought, tense, excited, and most importantly of all -- thoroughly engrossed and interested.

I might be a little biased since I had read Les Fleurs du Mal before the series (the poetry anthology it's named after and somewhat based upon), but the poetry has practically no application in the series at all. If any of you are using this thread to see what you should watch, then I'll say this: It's slow -- really slow. There is not a whole lot of action, and most of what's going on in the series depends on what's going on in your head as much as what's going on in the character's heads. So you may not like it if you require a lot of hand-holding or action. But, if you have quite a bit of patience and imagination (I guess a tolerance of "different" art styles is also needed -- it's rotoscoped), give Aku no Hana / Flowers of Evil a chance. It's a straight shot of 80-proof Artistry with no chaser. It may not feel good, but the taste is so complex and well-crafted that anyone with the right set of taste buds can't help but savor it.

Nooooo. Oreimo, Hayate, Little Busters and Samumenco where are you?
Magi has to win, but the fight looks between AoT and Kill la Kill.

Hmmm i wonder who will be battle one. 2013 was a pretty decent year there will be a a few that will be close.
So far i'm guessing from popularity stand point SnK and Kill la Kill will be pretty high up there. Should be interesting.

Looks like most of my picks were on there. Only gripe is O.C.. Outbreak company is better than half of those picks so it needs more people to watch it.

Just a thought -- Last year, the highest-voted show in the preliminaries was Sword Art Online with 28 votes, which was eliminated with 13 rounds left. Kokoro Connect and Another each had 27, and were eliminated with 3 and 6 rounds left, respectively -- so I guess they did pretty well. Shinsekai Yori, the winner, was 8th in prelim votes. So if 8th place wins this year, then I think I calculate that our winner is... The World God Only Knows?

Hahaha! Yes! It would only make sense going by last years model.... hahah :P

But yeah i personally wouldn't give either of those two my top vote for 2013, but they will be high up for sure if not winning.
