Hmmm i wonder who will be battle one. 2013 was a pretty decent year there will be a a few that will be close.
So far i'm guessing from popularity stand point SnK and Kill la Kill will be pretty high up there. Should be interesting.

Just a thought -- Last year, the highest-voted show in the preliminaries was Sword Art Online with 28 votes, which was eliminated with 13 rounds left. Kokoro Connect and Another each had 27, and were eliminated with 3 and 6 rounds left, respectively -- so I guess they did pretty well. Shinsekai Yori, the winner, was 8th in prelim votes. So if 8th place wins this year, then I think I calculate that our winner is... The World God Only Knows?

Hahaha! Yes! It would only make sense going by last years model.... hahah :P

But yeah i personally wouldn't give either of those two my top vote for 2013, but they will be high up for sure if not winning.

Yeah, to be fair, I think Attack on Titan was a lot better than SAO. They should make it pretty far, but because they were more than just popular. Once we get to the further stages though, things should be quite a bit more interesting. They got a lot of votes because basically everyone's seen them, and basically everyone thinks they're good enough to be running. Whether everyone thinks they're the best, though -- I'm still not sure. I'm looking forward to this, and really, I'm kind of a bit more psyched for it than I probably should be.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was kind of hoping Flowers of Evil would make the cut, though I can't say I'm surprised that it didn't.

I really hope Attack on Titan and Kill la Kill don't end up in the same group of 4 at any point; that would be really unfortunate for the other two.

I guess I'll have to finish Date A Live and Arpeggio. Dropped them fairly early, although I had a tough time dropping Arpeggio. Hopefully they don't show up before I get a chance to watch them.

Well the prelimaries confirmed that, like last year, unless you're a super-popular Funi show like Psycho-Pass (Hataraku this year apperently, I hope), if you're not on CR, you're gonna have a hard time (Blood Lad ). NO VOTE FOR YOU!!! :D

I do think Hataraku is good enough to transcend the ''people-here-only-watch-CR-simulcasts'' barrier and reach the final like Psycho-Pass did last year. Other shows don't stand a chance. Not even that K-ON version of Index.

Well personally I only have 2-3 shows I really liked that didn't make it. A lot less brutal than last year where the ''barrier'' was more obvious and I had 12-13 shows going out in the prelims. Can't wait for the tournament to start.

The real barrier looks like it's gonna be the 'beat the empty action shows' barrier.

Sweet, Kyousougiga made it in with a decent number of votes.

More people need to go watch Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta though, apparently.

Ever since it first aired, I never could find out if it was a sequel or a remake of the original show. If it's the latter than I'm watching it in the very near future cause it looks like my kind of show.

Haven't watched the original either. Do I need to watch it to watch this?

Technically Hana no Uta is a reboot/"alternative retelling". Both anime are based on the manga, but they aren't connected. It's like the 4+ iterations of Ghost in the Shell that are floating around. They're all different stories about the same people in the same place/time/setting, but they don't fit together in the same story universe.

Hana no Uta feels a little like it assumes some prior knowledge of the characters, but it's not required.

I watched it practically remembering nothing from the first series and did alright.

Not necessarily, for most people if you get 8 in each season that's gonna be one of the ones that hits a lot of top8s.

That's VERY different from it being a lot of people's favorite. Kill'la'kill will get further than AOT I think.

I think it's fair to say that series get in if people think they are good, but series win when people think they are special. Attack on Titan probably has the largest viewer count, but I'm not sure how many would consider it truly affecting.

It'll be interesting to see how it does versus shows like The Eccentric Family.

I'm not writing it off though, I think it'll at least go further than Kill La Kill.
