I'm 19 now and I absolutely love anime. I love it so much I would have print outs of Spring, summer, fall, and winter anime charts to mark so I would watch (usually 75% of them) each without skipping any.

The journey of anime has taken me quite far and it is one awesome experience! But as I age, I notice I change as do everyone in the world. I don't play the games I used to play when I was little nor do I watch the same shows.

Do you guys think we will ever grow out of anime? Or if not grow out, do you think our personalities will change to a certain point where the anime we watch no longer relates to us? (for example: by age 28 I wouldn't be as interested in mecha school animes like "infinite stratos")

I first started watching anime at age fourteen and by age twenty-one, I had grown out of it. I had watched so much anime during those seven years that I ended up burned out from anime.

Fast forward to today, I'm twenty-five and will be twenty-six this summer and the anime bug has bit me again. No, I'm not in full rabid mode like I was when I first got bit, but the desire to watch anime (and read manga) has comeback for sure.

There's no age limit on anime viewing. To me, watching anime is no different then watching animation like Family Guy or South Park. There's so many different types of anime for one to choose from and not have to feel like a "man-child" while viewing it.

One thing I have noticed is the type of anime one watches does change with age. Some of the anime I use to watch I would expect my school aged nephews to watch instead. For me nowadays, I like more of the mature (non-hentai) material.

Unless you have a Peter Pan syndrome, as you get older you're going to grow out of things you use to enjoy as a young one. However, that doesn't mean you will not still retain some enjoyable things from your youth.

33 and I've been watching anime for over 25 years now, I can honestly say I won't ever get tired of it....in fact I rarely watch anything but anime anymore, most shows on network TV just don't do anything for me.

Probably the lot of us are hooked for life. I do notice my tastes in anime changing though.

If you enjoy it, then personally I don't think there's an age you need to stop...

you can't be too old for cartoons, just too immature to accept the fact that you like cartoons.

I feel more like I've grown out of regular western television. It just seems so much more boring than the diversity you see in anime. I also treat good anime like Art and Art has no limits.

Been watching anime since the early-mid 80's so I doubt I'll ever grow out of it. Although the school setting and lack of adult protagonists does get annoying from time to time.

I'm 44 soon to be 45. I watched anime when I was younger, and then lost interest after getting married and having kids, but recently I rediscovered my love for anime, and I'd much rather watch it than "Reality TV". I agree that it would be awesome to see new anime that is focused on adult protagonists, but the majority of the market is a younger crowd. I accept it for what it is, and I enjoy every second. If I were to apply a ranking to the anime that I watch, I'd have to say that slice of life and adventure top my list with Mech being my least favorite. The exception of course being Gurren Lagann which is so much more than just another Mech anime!

Your preferences might change, but overall love of it probably won't. Anime is a medium with shows aimed at all ages. You might change and start getting maybe annoyed of high school settings and the like because they'll seem less and less relatable, but so long as there are shows aimed at adults I don't see how you grow out of it. Something like Black Lagoon, how can you be 'too old' for something like that?

The question you have to ask yourself is, what do YOU like, regardless of your age. I'm officially an old fart now, but I still love anime, heavy fist pumping music, and other things many of my peers may deem to be a sign of immaturity... Idgaf what others say, if I find something that brings me even momentary joy, I indulge... I suggest to anyone to do the same while you still have breath in you.
