Ever heard of Fry Sauce?
Posted 3/31/14 , edited 3/31/14
It's come to my attention, that fry sauce isn't common anywhere else besides where I live in the U.S. (Utah.)
I've been to restaurants in other states, and asked for some fry sauce. I have to eat everything with it. It's just so good. *^*
But to my misfortune, they don't know what it is I'm asking, so they just point to the ketchup!

My question is, is it really a "Utah thing"?
Have you heard of "fry sauce"?

If you haven't heard of it, it's nothing special. It's just mayonnaise mixed with ketchup. My homemade fry sauce, though, has a bit of lemon juice, BBQ sauce, pickle juice, and seasoned salt. Fancy, huh?

(Sorry if this is already a topic. I can't seem to find it. Maybe I made something like this before? My memories bad.)

I've seen plenty of places that serve fry sauce where I live, so I doubt it's that uncommon

I remember getting fry sauce at McDonalds when I was a kid. Never really liked it, but I think you buy it at Wal-Mart.

Fry sauce is the greatest thing on the whole fucking planet. It's sweet garlicy lard in my mouth, and it'd be the last sauce I'd give up before sriracha.

Yes on diners, drive ins, and dives, I believe its similar to thousand island dressing.

I've heard of it, but I've never seen any restaurants serve it.
Of course, you could probably easily make it since ketchup and mayo are usually options here.. xD

no offense but that sounds disgusting... mayo + ketchup...

That's strange. Never heard of it over here on the East Coast.

Fry....sauce? This is an official thing in utah? Where you can go up to the counter and ask to have fries sauce with your fries? There is....an official 'sauce for fries' in utah?

It appears to be not just in Utah, reading over these comments. I guess it just depends on the place. But yes, in Utah it's like "here, you want some fry sauce with that?" Or "Can I get some fry sauce?" and people will automatically understand you.

It's relieving that it's not just here in Utah. I've heard of it being in other country's. I guess it just depends on the place where it's served.

Never heard of it. I don't think Michigan restaurants carry it.

That's interesting, never heard of this fry sauce ever in my entire life. Where I am there is no official sauce. Just dip your fry wherever you want to: ketchup, mustard, honey mustard, ranch (especially in ranch where I live), etc.
