Cellory
It seems to be primarily a Northwest / Inland Northwest thing. I am surprised Utah has it as Nevada generally does not from my experience. Same with Colorado. It is common in Eastern Washington and Oregon along with Idaho and Montana.

Past that, it seems fairly sporadic across the rest of the country. Some places have it, but others do not. I am not sure if I have seen a large geographic area that has it outside of the Pacific Northwest really.

I don't know that it's a "Northwest" thing - I've never seen it served anywhere here on Washinton's wetside, nor anywhere around Portland area. Never saw it anywhere in the South either.

Fry sauce. Even though I know what you're talking about, I've never heard of it as fry sauce before.

Seriously? People haven't heard of fry sauce? Mix mayo and ketchup and you've got fry sauce. Better yet, mix Sriracha and mayo. But, If you've been living under a rock for the past half century and haven't heard of fry sauce, you surely won't know what Sriracha is.

Well, what part of the U.S. are you from? As others have discussed, apparently fry sauce isn't common in well over half the country. I didn't know about fry sauce before this thread but I knew about sriracha, heh.

People in Louisiana don't call that Fry Sauce. A lot of people down here (Real southern Louisiana) Eat crabs and Crawfish/Crayfish and dip it in that. I hate that sauce and hate crawfish and crabs so I don't eat it.

My question is, is it really a "Utah thing"?

I also live in Utah and it IS a Utah thing. However, it is also popular in Idaho, where you can even find it at some McDonalds 'restaurants'.

Also known as 'spicy mayo' and is used as a topping on a lot of fried sushi.

This just reminded me of how some people like to take chicken nuggets and dip them in honey. Anyone ever try it? It is actually pretty good. In fact, McDonald's used to have little packets of pure honey. Some people would use it for chicken nuggets. They don't have honey anymore. I never used honey on chicken nuggets much, but now that I think about it, it is good and something different, and I think sometime I'll grab some chicken nuggets from a fast food place, bring it home, and eat it with some honey.

Oh, yes. I usually grabbed honey-mustard instead, though. Chicken with a honey glaze is a classic combination, so it's not much of a stretch to dip chicken nuggets in it.

Anyway, I've seen people mix ketchup and mayo together in Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania; however, I hadn't heard of it being called "fry sauce" before. I personally don't care for it.

Also, I've seen jello salad in MS, PA, and NC.

Hmmm. I've never had it/heard of it. I live in Ohio. Maybe it is exclusive to your region? It does sound good though. Maybe I'll try it the next time I eat fries (which is almost never, lol).

I got a bottle of it at the Winco store. Used it once or twice,,, It looked like ketchup and mayo and that's what it tastes like to me... I haven't seen it at any of the restaurants I've been in....
