Would you watch an anime series where the main character is copied after you?

There are lots of shows where the majority of the problem is caused by people not being honest with their affections for one another, or where everything could be solved by giving a few characters a big hug. Those are the cases when I want to jump in the show and do exactly that.

Let's be real, Shinji basically needed a big hug from Asuka the whole time.
Tsubaki from BlazBlue desperately needed a hug.
Cassim from Magi needed a serious bro-hug.
Homura needed a million hugs. (and everyone from that show)

Japanese people seem to be too scared of open affection.

More directly on topic: I think I could handle being a main character fairly well. Especially if I was in an action series. I'd save the crap out of the world.

Why do the girls from Madoka Magica need a million and all the rest don't?

Homura went through a lot more. Her problems amount to much more than just angst. Naturally, everyone's going through more than angst, but I just felt the most sorry for Homura.

I wouldn't want to watch myself freaking out in a magical world and getting all depressed because I'd have to do something and wouldn't have talented enough magic powers to do it?

If we're talking about having a smart character... then yes, I would like a smart main protagonist for once... there aren't that many main protagonists that actually think before they act...

I imagine it would be pretty interesting to see. Seed what he does and since it's based on me, I could do it too.

You could say the same for the other characters, Horuma isn't anyone special in that regard. More or less, you can say she brought all of it on herself, but I'm not going to get into it.

Plus, you said you felt the most sorry for her -- I'm assuming more than any of the others -- so that must have an influence on why she deserves a million hugs and the others don't. I could be tottaly wrong, but that's the way I see it, as of now... anyway.

What I'm saying is it doesn't seem fair... you know?

I agree with this. I wonder what sort of plot it'd have?

Whatever plot you want. The character is a copy of you and you're placed in ANY genre with ANY plot in ANY setting.

The point is having a character that actually has complicated reasons for thinking the way he does and not just acting irresponsibly, just because he "feels" that way...

I don't want a random smart character, but it'd be nice if that were one aspect of an MC for once... A lot of people liked Log Horizon because of the MC... (I still haven't really seen much of it but that isn't the point...)

My mistake then.

You still don't want a character based off you in ANY type of anime series, huh?

Sure, personally I'm not surprised by much, so I wouldn't be freaked out by the usual anime genres, but it would be interesting to see how the audience would respond to my character. They probably wouldn't get me one bit, seeing as how I'm very considerate and kind to the people around me, but I'm very good at hiding my emotions, so people typically can't tell when I'm joking around. If you know me personally that's very bad, seeing as how most of the stuff that comes out of my mouth is religiously intolerant, homophobic, racist, sexist, nationalist, and extremely offensive. I would make for a good comedy or an anime that centers around dialogue like Monogatari.

It wouldn’t make any sense for me to want to just sit and watch- I’m an active person, not a passive one.
I would gladly participate in the making of an anime about me, although anime might not be the most appropriate medium… I don’t know how much people want to watch animation about guys in their 30s who have nerdy home lives; no lovers in sight; spend huge amounts of time drawing; are very smart and yet underappreciated and underutilized at work where we are outgunned, outmaneuvered and outfoxed by better looking, younger people on a daily basis. There might be anime about characters like this- who have delusions of grand success but aren’t able to make an impact on people in quite the right way to achieve any. Except the difference with my life is I’ve travelled extensively, spent long amounts of time overseas in India, and lived out of suitcase in England, and up and down the east coast US- so such a boring slice-of-life film would be punctuated by visions of crazy indian cities and waking up on a bed platform in a rural hotel hearing mullah’s prayer calls before switching back to the dreary reality in front of me now. If told properly I think it would be a moving, and hugely depressing show, though, because i would tell the stories in a way to jerk viewers’ emotions around and make my life look more tragic than it is!

You're reading too much into something that I wrote very quickly without proofreading lol. I just happen to have a soft spot for Homura is all.
