Jail breaking is... Well, you know. Better than stock.

What does it mean to 'jail break' a phone? My cousin said she did it and I had no idea what it meant.

More on topic, I have an iphone 4. I love it, considering my previous phones weren't smartphones.

Unlocking the phone so that it can do stuff that it's not suppose to do.

Change things in the operating system, install apps free (illegal) etc. If your gonna unlock a phone then it's better to unlock a android since it will give you more options.

Also, you will void your warranty if you jailbreak and/or root your device.

A late smartphone adopter, you should be happy that you got a phone now and not before since when smartphones got big they warn't good at all.

My first smartphone was Xperia x10 mini pro but I bought a Xperia X10 about half a year after since when I was using apps on my mini pro they were so laggy and slow. But after a update to the x10 it suddenly got so slow, almost to the point where it was unusable due to it not being powerful enough to handle android 2.1... But the 2.1 update was just the beginning since when they decided to launch the 2.3 update for the x10 it got to the point where I couldn't even use my phone. and after that I bought a Galaxy Nexus and it was fast for a while but quickly got slower and slower.

And now I have a Xperia Z1 and let's just say I'm amazed at how far mobile has come in just a few years... It's a bit sad that Adobe removed their support for flash tho!

Samsung Galaxy S2. He's on his last legs, though. Might have to upgrade soon... It's been a good three years.

I have the HTC Evo 3D. I like it however recently the battery life hasn't been too great. The touchscreen also starts to wig out at random times and prevents me from using it so I am considering buying a new phone soon. If anyone has any suggestions for phones with good battery life and good video streaming capabilities then let me know

Note 3. Love it and unless something comes out that can compete with the functionality of the Note I'll probably never stray from this line.

No disrespect, but ignore Omega. Everything in their post was wrong. Especially Android "giving more options"... Sounds like someone doesn't use jailbroken devices.

It's called a "jailbreak" because it can run apps unsigned by Apple.

It gives you access to Cydia, which is a repository consisting of apps and... More repositories. You can download tweaks and add more "stores"(repos) here. So you can get tweaks, applications and more.

It's kinda hard to summarize what all a jailbreak can do... But it's awesome! Try it! It gives iOS everything android users claims iOS doesn't have. It doesn't void your warranty and is legal. Jail breaking generally makes the iPhone favored among power users, but not semi-power users.

Oh, I see. Seems interesting. Thank you for the answer.
