Kawaiso (The Kawai Complex Guide To Manors And Hostel Behavior) is announced by Sentai, so that's highly likely to be a CR pickup with a UK-shaped-hole in the license region.

Makakucity Actors is announced by Aniplex of America, so that's highly likely to be as well.

I'm both happy and sad about this.

Sad, as it means that the two main shows I wanted to watch are on the service that doesn't suit me over here, but likely to be on CR elsewhere. And until Animax finish improving their service (which, in all fairness, they do seem to be taking criticism onboard and actively making positive changes), that's always gonna piss me off.
CR currently suits my usage in ways that Animax can't quite handle yet.

On the other hand, I'm glad to see that they've got an announcement out early. In the past two seasons, they've not only announced after CR has announced it's UK-shaped hole, but they've waiting until the season is actually underway. Leaving potential viewers already annoyed and even possibly already having found a fansub that suits them.
It also means tat sometimes their acquisition of a title has been drowned out by the pre-existing noice over CR not having the UK rights. If CR do pick it up elsewhere, Animax have at least got their news out first. And this is one of the improvements I was hoping they'd make.

TheAncientOne wrote:As per TiggsPanther report above regarding Anime Limited, Wakanim, and UK simulcasts, if that info is correct, it would appear as if Wakanim is waving the white flag on UK simulcasts, and none of their current ones carry over into the new season.

It also leaves them with a website that serves no purpose other than to host 3 catalog titles (and if I understand their model correctly, only for purchase or rental after a few more weeks).

I got the impression from Andrew's forum post that they were definitely going to do something this season just not a simulcast. I don't know whether it was owing to the lack of being able to score a license or just because they didn't see anything that grabbed them.
Either way, though, I'm interested to see what they come up with. I've said from the start that their download-to-own method seems best suited for catalogue titles. Especially ones that either didn't get a UK Blu-ray or never got a UK physical release at all. So I'm hoping they do something along those lines.

This does give them the simultaneous advantage/disadvantage of not having to hit licensing/announcement at this exact point in time. Which does then leave them looking silent when people are waiting for news.

Sigh, now there's 2 shows I wanted to watch that aren't available for my region. And so far the shows that have been announced for my region seem.... meh. Hope they'll get something worth watching for my region...

And a benefit of announcing earlier is that there are better prospects for the balance of Sentai licenses which seem like they are only going to miss the UK if there is an unfortunate regional carve-up from the original licensor ...

... eg, Toho, which have published a North-America-only series to Crunchyroll for three seasons in a row now, leading LA commentators to add them to their "unfriend" list alongside Showgate.

Which region is that? (or put your country in your profile, so region context is automatic)

I see he also said, "...that shockingly don't include simulcasts for a season", which would appear to indicate they plan to return to having simulcasts beginning next season.

Yeah. That's why I suspect that they either didn't see anything they particularly wanted to license, or weren't able to get far enough into negotiations even a few weeks back.
There's also a chance that they already had some ideas about non-simulcast stuff that they wanted to focus on for a short while.

Besides, you never know, maybe with all the asset-delivery BS regarding Kill la Kill they just wanted a season away from being beholden to a production timetable that was apparently quite often down to the wire even for Japanese broadcast. (Anecdotal rumours only. But I've heard this happen before in Anime and other TV, and must really play merry-hell for same-day services who have to factor in translated subtitles)
I can only assume that working on catalogue shows doesn't have quite so much last-minute-delivery potential

Europe, more specific The Netherlands. I hope they do like last season and get us some shows with German/ French subs at least. Not my preferred way to watch but soooooo much better than nothing.

Aha ... previously, most Dutch pick-ups look like they have been extensions of UK rights, but this season it looks like sometimes Benelux is getting licensed as a group ... for instance, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg included, but either France or Germany not included. If that is a trend, it will mean the Netherlands not falling as far behind Scandinavia and the UK as they have normally done in the past few years.

Being in continental Europe, the Netherlands will still miss out on some access because of the patchwork quilt of different licensing regions from different anime licensors, but the more regional carve-ups it can get included in, the more access it'll end up with.

What is your country? (Or just put it into your location in your account, to give context to comments like that)

It's Lithuania and somehow i get to see some titles, so probably it's attached to some other country, because I don't see mine in any lists and untill the episodes are uploaded it feels like I won't be able to stream anything. But oh well, looking on a bright side, now it is more like a surprise for me every season ^^

I've only seen one Lithuanian license by name, Rowdy Sumo Wrestler Matsutaro, with the other Baltic States license regions being "Europe", or "Europe except" or "Worldwide except" ... I think that would be JoJo's, Mushi-shi, The Irregular at Magic High, Fairy Tail, Chaika Coffin Princess, plus for Premium members only in the Baltic States, the three kids shows that are Premium Members worldwide outside Asia, Oreca Battle, Dragon Collection and Hero Bank.

So the license regions you are normally looking for are "Worldwide ex-Japan", "Worldwide outside Asia", "Europe", and "Europe except".
