*shrugs*

Light novels are generally unavailable (legally) in the U.S., and manga can get expensive quickly, so I focus on what I can afford, and that tends to be anime.

Sometimes its nice not to know whats going to happen when watching an anime series. Even though reading the manga gets you up to date on the story, sometimes it kills the excitement of watching something big happen when you know what characters live.

I don't like reading...

Anime is superior because it has colour, sound and motion.

We all hope for second seasons, and other sequels. We don't know if they will come or not. But if the franchise/anime GETS BIG then we can assume its gonna get one. Some may take long than others though. But one thing that gets me mad is when people want stuff to hurry up and come out. WHY CAN'T YOU JUST GO READ THE SOURCE MATERIAL

For example, I loved to aru majutsu no index/ a certain magical index (still do, it's my favorite light novel series) when I finished seasons 1 and 2 of the anime in 2011 (also saw railgun). I wanted to find out what happens next and went ahead to read the light novels and caught up. I did the same for Shingeki no kyoujin and caught up to the current chapter. Both series I know will get sequels. Also fo a bunch of other light novels and manga.

But then there are series that don't get sequels, like negima. I enjoyed the anime and wanted to know what happens next so I went ahead and read the manga. Negima got even better and thus became my favorite manga series ever
(yes I saw the ovas n movie but I don't see them as sequels)

Sure you may spoil yourself, But then you will be able to enjoy watching the moments you read being animated.

so all of you "why can't (insert anime) second season come sooner!!!!" people, please just go read the manga if you can't wait.

Thanks

I know people that are slow readers. I can't get some people whose favorite anime is Raildex to read the novels. If that can't happen, then I doubt I'll be able to get that many people who don't treat it as their #1 series to read it. It's sad but true.

I wish more people read it especially since I think the LN's are better than the anime, but some people just don't like reading and they're that way. That will always be the case.

On the other hand, I have some friends that don't care if there's an anime and just want the novels, so it depends.

I like both... But yes, the negima manga was much better, and I've seen the OVA's... (have not seen the movie, but I know the plot...)

This topic again?

Some people simply prefer to watch anime more than read the manga/light novel. Simple as that.

I read a lot.. for various reasons.. the only problem with reading is every movie, anime, tv series, skit, I see based off written material I pretty much hate... Because the writers cant do justice with their quick and dirty adaptations.. They are ALL subpar and full of plot holes in comparison to original.

Series that stick as closely to possible to the written works make more money .. even in Hollywood this is true the same in anime..

Might as well just make them into the equiv of American sitcoms with no story line past 22 minutes long because basically all a 12 episode series gets thru is the equivalent of character introductions in a manga or light novel... Its hard to make a short well developed story that may or may not get a 2nd season...

In my opinion, they should quit insulting the literature.. and always do their best to cover first arc of novels in a introductory season.
