Not a fan of them, and I've never joined one or wanted to.

The ones at my college look pretty annoying, and i never understood the point of them. But a close friend of mine is in a sorority, and it seems like she has fun. i'd never join one, though.

I personally dont mind them. Some of the them can act like snobs when their all together and your not "greek" but their not something that you cant handle. I thought about joining until I was told to skip my class just so I could go to an interest meeting and well that caused me to lose interest. But the partys are pretty fun!

I'm indifferent, though I wouldn't want to join. I'm not especially social, and they don't pique my interest.

i'm indifferent. they can make someone more open, and can also ruin someone.

actually i am not indifferent. the hazing process is brutal and just horrid. i am a really good friend, i actually threw away my education to help them get into these frats. it is stupid how being in a frat really enforces your chances into your future jobs.

I don't mind them. My sister was in a sorority. I knew a few people in frats. I just don't like how some can become distant and not just because of events. I had the impression they became the usual "only when they need something" type of people. I was told once that from a friend's friend that he joined so he could have close friends for life - brothers (that's fine). Perhaps my sister's sorority was different, but she has often told me how she never even sees people she knew from her sorority.

In all, the only thing I dislike about them (besides the secret stuff) is how distant "friends" can get after joining. I try to think it was because they were much more busy (not really). That isn't a big deal if it is true or not. It only really started to bothered me when the person I was friends with for a full year joined one and would act like a big shot in the second year of knowing each other and even asked me once if he could pay me money to watch me study Organic Chemistry before our third test. I refused him, because friends don't owe or take money handouts (imo) from each other, and still invited him to see how I did things.

So, as long as it doesn't change people - I'm fine with it. Most everyone I met, other than availability issues, did change. I've known plenty of people that partied too much and had to give up their big plans. A brother passes you a beer and a friend tells you, "I don't feel bad for people that don't study"? Those people that joined them inspired my, "you can't save them all" line I only use in academic settings.

I'm in a fraternity. It seems like most of the hate comes from people who don't really know what we're about

Don't hate or like them, but was never interested in joining one. Probably due to the fact that I've not been around them at all.
