Calliope laughed and gave a shrug. "You could tag along if you want. I'm not sure if the reward would be distributed though," She explained walking over the sunny hillsides. The breeze kissed her cheeks and made her feel warm inside. "I thought the cave was going to be off limits to players though. I guess it's just level locked,"

As the two crossed the bridge, Calliope readied her long bow. The field before them was spammed with bouncing slimes and new players who were busy fighting them. Adrenaline pumped through Calliope as she dashed into the field. "We better attack now or there won't be any left for us!" She joked as she fired an arrow at a slime.

Camilla swung the crossbow on her back and steadied her running position.

Her speed stats were much lover than Calliope but she raced towards the battle scene nonetheless. Pulling out her favorite weapon, she began summoning the sea snail to pounce on one slime. The other slimes began to lose interest in the players and turned to Camilla. They started slugging their way towards her in blobs. She leisurely checked a user's manual with a click of her game menu as the slimes slowly closed in.

"I think I need to reevaluate my job. It seems I can't catch slimes or any demons around here...This is confusing..."she muttered incoherently.

Without paying extra attention to the first slime near her left foot, she swiftly swung the crossbow to the side and accurately aimed a few arrows at her opponent. With its low HP and sufficient player's level, Camilla easily got her first slime. She bent over it and collected the remains in a jar. Her sea snail was also done leeching off the other slime. Camilla jumped backwards to avoid more slimes chewing at her feet.

"A couple more,"Camilla replied excitedly as she quickly leveled up.

She kicked a slime away and sent afew more errors down a neighboring's throat. Her system showed a unique-to-player announcement - hersea snail can now multiply according to her SP limit. She grinned and summoned one.

"Let's go!" she skipped withher multiplying snails. She picked her precious subjects up and threw at incoming snails.

Then, she sent a PM. "Do quests overlap? Why are there spiders in my quest?"

It was a microscopic rumble, the tiny, high-pitched shrieking of the machine as it started up. Ygritte licked her lips, almost unable to keep still, as she waited to get into the game. She's never gamed before - no not like this. This was her first digital reality game, as they would call it. You see, she was never much of a gamer, couldn't stand just sitting there for hours and only moving your fingers, besides, if you're only going to be moving your fingers, why not put them to better use? Like digital art for example, now that was better. But then again, who can deny a free $1000 gift? So that was how she got started with this new, oh-so-popular, taken the world by storm, game - Altelia. She chuckled. Finally the headgear blinked green, as it signalled that it was finished loading.

"System Activate."

Ygritte enunciated each word carefully with sharp precision as she blew away that one lone strand of lilac hair from her face. She smiled; didn't exactly know why but ooh ho, this is gonna be hella fun.

Then the world appeared. Quite breathtaking actually. Bright, colourful and almost like a painted fantasy, but this was realistic - so a realistic fantasy then. She moved her jaw, mumbled out a few random words, then tinkered the rest of her body with weird movements and stretches to make sure that it was working properly. Ahh, now that was better, she felt like a well-oiled tin man. Ha. Ygritte turned around to take in the grand scenery and stared; which epic artist designed this entire thing? It was so beautiful, the laughter in the air, the smell of delicious food, the NPCs just yearning for her to take their quests, but well, actually, where does she start...?

[ sorry for the late reply. Accident happened so I was on medical lift for a couple days uwu Still under bed rest but I'll try my best to respond! ]

The neat thing about Half-life was that the PM system was almost like telepathy. The second Calliope received the question, she knew she did not have to answer to reply - In any case, she did not feel like she had the energy to anyways. "I'm not quite sure about that... it's the first time I've received this quest myself." She answered as she flung another arrow at an incoming slime. To her relief, it was her last. Her quest was finished but now she supposed she should help out Camilla.

Her fingers were forming callouses in game from the arrow shooting. Everything just felt strangely real. She knew it was only a matter of time until she had to log out though. Dinner would be ready soon and her mother would blow a cask if she didn't come down.

Camilla wiped her brows although the sweat was never there.

She was done.

And she had finished her quest quite amicably. She did 90% of the grunt work and there was a special message in her inbox. She knew she had a special gift from the GM for the quick leveling. Maybe I will open later...

"Shall we head back?" she thought aloud, forgetting Calliope's quest.

Seeing that the albino would not have the time to work on the spider quest, she easily agreed to Camilla's request. The archer allowed herself to walk the beginner back to town. To her surprise, Camilla seemed familiar with the path already.

"Well," She begins after closing their previous conversation topic about... what was it. Slimes? "I have to go for dinner. I'll see you later, Cammy! It was nice gaming with you," With a grin and a wave, Calliope logged out just in time to hear her mother calling her down for dinner.

Taking the headgear off, Misha Chen stretched herself into a yawn. How long has she been gaming for? Two, three-- four hours? She felt sluggish and starved.

Camilla was a little hurt by the shortening of her name to "Cammy" but she put on a smile nonetheless and waved goodbye to her new friend.

"Thank you for partying with me!" She called out gratefully.

Then, she went to the NPC to receive her quest reward. She weighted the coin pouch and grinned ruefully. Her first conquest! Happily humming, she skipped to the town's fountain and fell to a seating position. She looked around and waved to NPCs and players alike. After a few polite conversations, we was left alone as players head to their destinations. She slide her finger over the Menu button.

"Inventory," she whispered as if the system was voice-automated. "Wow, a new skill! Wait, so as a Shaman, not only to I get demons as pets, I get to use their skills? This is so much better than being a Priestess. Too bad I have limited number of demons I can keep and summon."

She sighed and closed the window. Looking at her new stats, she could not wait to try out new skills and make her spellbook more of a main weapon. Her crossbow had increased in attack points and hardened but she wanted to be a pure Shaman. Shaman was not a job designated by the system but if she could a new class...

The scenery was mesmerizing, and she circled around the town a bit more. Soon, she came back to the same fountain, this time with a gigantic lamb kebob in one hand. There was a pretty lady sitting in front of the fountain this time, checking her stats as it seems. Ygritte goes to turn away from the fountain and towards an NPC when a sudden whoosh of wind pounded into her face, followed by an attack of feathers, then it was all clear again. All clear. Her kebob gone too. Furious at her loss, she chases after the seagull that is now resting quite nicely on the top of the fountain, savouring her delicious kabob. She cussed.

"Wow. I see how it is. You can go die, freaking seagull." Ygritte murmurs the death wish in between clenched teeth. It would've been fine if it was just a piece of food. But it wasn't! It was a kabob, and not just a kabob, a gigantic, lamb kabob! That had costed her a fortune. Jeez.

Bored, she reopened her menu and clicked her weapon stats.

Crossbow (Upgradable)
  • Mercy

  • Shoots two arrows at a time for light damage
(Camilla frowned at this. "Lousy main weapon.")

Basic Spellbook (For <Lvl10)
  • Sea Snail

  • Sucks HP out of opponent slowly.
*New* Create cochlea shell shield for 10 minutes but unable to guard against magic attacks

Hearing the cries of another player, Camilla approached the annoyed girl cautiously. She tapped her shoulders tentatively.

"Whatever is the matter?"

Nyx was temporarily startled to see the girl poking her, but got over it quite instantaneously. She was a really pretty girl in an attire of red, yellow and white. A shrine maiden-esque appearance. She immediately apprehended her own attitude.

"Oh, sorry, no I'm fine, just ya know, those damn seagulls... I never knew they did that in games." Nyx tumbles out with a miniscule pout.

"Ah...I understand." She nodded fervently. "You are not the first victim."

Without waiting for the new player's consent, she pushed her right hand forcefully into the air and mumbled. A crossbow materialized from transparent cubes and Camilla swiftly shot the seagulls. Sensing danger, the seagulls narrowly missed the incoming missiles but also dropped the stolen item. It was swallowed by the sea below. Camilla turned to the new player nonchalantly.

"Do you still want to pick it up?" Camilla asked as she closed her player window. Her stats had increased again.

Now that was another thing that she was not expecting, left her quite speechless to be honest. Gosh, the people so nice in here. Totally unexpected. Nyx watched again, as the girl tapped onto her stats screen, she probably had more than Nyx did, she wondered if the girl would maybe, just maybe, teach her some tricks?
"Oh wow, oh my god, thank you! Jesus you are so sweet, I didn't, you didn't have to do that tho!" Nyx exclaimed out as she watches the kebob fall into the water.
"And well, I don't think I can actually eat it now, but I'll still take it and sell it at the closest store."

Camilla stared at her for a long time before bursting out laughing. The laughter was a merry one akin to a child's.

"You are funny! I decided. I like you! My name is Camilla. And I am in no position to teach you. I am new here too!" she exclaimed, wiping tears from her cheeks.

Winking, she pulled her new friend to the front of a bakery store. "We can get quests here and learn together, though. I summon thee!"

A sea snail appeared with a soft squish in front of them. Its eyes looked inquiringly at Camilla. The owner petted and smiled mysteriously. the snail understood and slid backwards to reveal a teal-colored, shell-like shield. Camilla picked up the slimy the shield and happily passed it to the new player.

"There you go. I don't know if it of use to help you get your kebab but that's all I can manage for now. The shield is of water element so you don't have to worry about corroding it with sea salt. I need to talk to the NPC about my quest reward. I will see you later?"
