From the first time I saw him, Nice-kun really garnered my respect.

It was really admirable how he wasn't dead and stuff.

Ippo's m-

Agh...sorry, I cannot do it even on April First.

Edit: I guess I'll go with Momoharu. Epic win over Girlie. Just epic. That chapter still gives me goosebumps. Would've been perfect if not for that "other" chapter that followed. You saw the anime announcement right?

ah Makoto a pimp to the end Women hate him Men envy him Pimps respect him

I respected Shinji for being the most realistic character in any anime.

Tatsuo Saeki from Gingitsune

The man is an upstanding priest and a great single father. He's just an all around great guy, and I always felt a massive amount of respect for him. Especially in his devotion to his duties and his family,

Yuuji from Shakugan no Shana (Season 3) because he follows his ideals and his own path, whether it's right or wrong. He wants to see it till the end

The first character that popped up in my head as I read the description:

Hachiman Hikigaya - My Teen Romantic Comedy

But also:

Yuugo Hachiken - Silver Spoon

Tohru Honda - Fruits Basket

Yuuko - XxHolic

Coach Momokan - Big Windup!

Yuuki - Sword Art Online II

Noya-san and Tanaka-senpai - Haikyuu!!

I both respect and like all these characters, but for different reasons.

Anime characters that I have respected include:

Aru AKISE from Future Diary (Mirai Nikki). I respected his audacity, his intense curiosity and close scrutiny of the future diary holders. Finally he defined himself as something apart from his creators intentions.

Colonel Shikishima from Akira. A man at odds with the values of his time. Surrounded in ignoramus and fools he attempts to balance the unavoidable pursuit of power/truth with the maintaining of a greater good against overwhelming odds.

Killua ZOLDYCK from Hunter x Hunter. A kid born into the most deranged and sociopath family anywhere. He manages not only to keep from becoming evil but also makes enduring friendships with others. He reminds a little bit of another fictional character Drizzt Do'Urden.

Yuuji KAZAMI from The Fruit of Grisaia. A very strong analytical and diligent character possessing very dry wit. I did not watch his story to the end because I thought the world he was dropped into was the worst rubbish imaginable. But he was an interesting character.

Shinichi IZUMI from Parasyte -the maxim-. An ordinary person dropped into a nightmare entirely unprepared. He holds it together and in doing so earns my respect.

No female characters would make my top ten list of the most respected ones. I will name a few that I respect more than most here:

Makoto SAKO from Devil Survivor 2 The Animation.

Kirie KANOE from Dusk Maiden of Amnesia (Tasogare Otome x Amnesia).

Himeko INABA from Kokoro Connect.

Cecile CROOMY from Code Geass.

I Totally agree, I would also add a more recent entry of Masayoshi Hazama, from Samurai Flamenco, and Simon is also awesome too!

EDIT: I also forgot to mention Ryugi, from Toradora, you've got to give it up to him for dealing with Taiga, along with all the other stuff he goes through.

Vash had a huge influence on me when I was younger. I really respected the Pacifist message he provided.
