My first recommendation is: Charlotte

There's so few things I have to complain about with Charlotte. People constantly keep citing it as a clone of Code Geass, having a boring plot, and having stale characters, but I honestly have no idea where they're coming from. First of all, if you liked Code Geass, what's so bad about a clone? Besides, unlike Lelouch, the main character of Charlotte (Yuu Otosaka) actually is very limited in what his ability can do. Secondly, if you were paying enough attention to notice vague plot holes and character problems, then you're clearly engaged, and that's a good thing.
Side note: Only two anime have ever made me cry, and this is one of them!

My other recommendation is: Arpeggio of Blue Steel

Arpeggio of Blue Steel (or Ars Nova, as I will continue to call it) is a short story with very well-done artwork, solid voice acting, a fantastic original plot, and expert character development. Writers take notes, as the way characters develop in Ars Nova is shockingly hidden. I won't spoil anything, but once you meet Iona's sisters near to the end, you'll see just how much she's changed over the course of the series - a story concept I have failed to master in these many years of mindless creative writing. Another thing that makes Ars Nova so great is the choices that the characters make. This next part is a spoiler, so...
More importantly, why are you still here reading this? You should be busy adding Charlotte and Ars Nova to your CR queues then binging on them!
