As the title states, do you back up your computer? If you do, what method do you rely on? If you do not, explain why.

I have three external hard drives that I use for backups coordinated by time machine. Even if one drive fails, I still have backups on two other drives, not including my laptop. For me, losing 11,000 songs, 400 gigs of anime, and the other files on my computer would be a HUGE problem.

I don't back up my PCs, but my dad's in the IT business so we have a server lab that we save our files in... So I guess it is somewhat of a backup ^^;
On Mac, however, for some reason we got the Time Capsule thing and I figured it doesn't hurt to let that back my stuff up.

Overall I don't feel that I truly have a need to back up my computers because I have all the "important" stuff on sites like Dropbox and Google Drive + Play

I don't. I probably should, but I just can't be bothered.

I have two USB drives with my important files on them (anime pictures, iPod music, resume and CV). If they both go down, which I VERY MUCH doubt, then I'll just admit defeat.

Backing up computer files is very smart. I back up the stuff that matters the most to me. I back up my music, although I'm due to back up music again. There is a good bit of music I need to back up, probably more than I realize. I also have backed up some folders with photos and Word documents and some miscellaneous stuff. I have a lot of anime fansubs backed up to an external HDD. I also have my collection of anime pictures backed up.

I have an external HDD that I back my laptop too. I probably should have one more place to back up too, so in case my external fails, which my previous one did. They way I have it set up is, I'll have all my files saved onto it, and I also have a system image of my laptop saved on it. So I can just load that instead, without having to transfer all the files, which takes a while.

Backing up my computer with an external hard drive has been my standard practice for some time. It's extremely important to have a backup just in case something happens to your computer. It matters more to those of us who archive data from our lives, of course. If you've got stuff that can be re-downloaded off the Internet, it's not as important - although it can be inconvenient to collect it all over again. But many of my files could never be recovered if I didn't back them up; my data archive holds unique material recorded from over ten years of my life.

On a relevant note, has anyone here actually built a Faraday cage for their system?

Nope, maybe I'll buy a microwave just for it.

No, never. There's really nothing important on it to do so. Even if there was, I'd be too lazy and would end up not doing so, only to curse later.
