Let's discuss.

What are your thoughts on xenophobic countries and people?

Lots of countries hate Americas due to how frequently our government jams itself into foreign affairs like we are the police of the world. Countries like Japan for example could show some hatred because we did bomb them during WWII even though they started it, some people probably still hold hatred to all Americans for that. Then there comes into play religion. Naturally, if you go to a country that has a certain religion and you don't respect that in your daily life they probably see that as disrespect.

People fear what they don't understand/know yet they're too afraid to at least try to understand/know what they are fearing.

I think it's just a very bad excuse for racism

That's not true. People fear what they think they understand.

I pity those afflicted with an rather extreme, fear-based version of xenophobia. It's like watching someone freak out and hide in a corner over a tiny salamander. Otherwise, xenophobia pisses me off.

What they "think" they understand could be all wrong.

Just saying.

What's rational is irrational and what's rational is rational but what's irrational can be perceived as rational and what's rational can be perceived as irrational.

Play with me~ ^^

xenophobia is a mechanism of evolutionary defence. we are the same species, but our differences in looks and obvious ethnic differences make us xenophobic.
an analogy would be... even though a fetus contains half the mother's DNA, sometimes the mother's body will reject that fetus because it thinks the fetus is a foreign object, aka known as natural miscarriage.

but there's another side of the story; there's actually an evolutionary benefit to the mixing of different races of people. e.g., race x is known to have a certain genetic disorder, and race y is known to have a certain immune defence... if someone from race x mixes with someone from race y, the race y parent could cover the genetic defect of race x parent and also donate a positive trait which is the antibody.

that's what people like hitler and pure race people don't realize; it's actually not ideal to build a "pure" race of people as the likelihood of genetic disorders will increase.

the mixing of race is actually the ideal evolutionary step; as the combination and mixtures of genetic material can create more diversity, aka more variety of immune defence and antibodies.

I think I've... gone quite off-topic... but yeah... I see this from a scientific point of view, rather than a social point of view.
