"It's not really my thing but the girls deserve it." Yeah I can agree with that. I mean us guys get harems, why not the girls? With how well they make good looking guys, why wouldn't some girls want one.

Even though I think they deserve it, would it even be profitable to make a lot of these types of anime? I would assume that most people that watch anime are male, so is there even enough people that would watch it?

I would like to more reserve harems with a female lead who is head strong, intelligent, assertive, down to earth, and overall well written.

So as long as we don't get movies like Twilight or animes like Amnesia.

I like them (maybe even more than regular harems.) I'd like to see more, there's not a lot. Some i really like are Ouran Host Club and Kamisama Hajimemashita

While they may not speak to me in quite the same way that 'standard' harem do, I actually quite enjoy a few of them at least. Ouran High School Host Club and Special A were both fantastic. I still haven't finished The Wallflower, but it was by no means bad, I watched about half of it. I plan to finish it someday.

Agreed. I think there was only one harem girl that was liked that; Haruhi Fujioka. Most otome/reverse harem main girls are design to be what the girls fantasize about. They often have the girls changing personality by which route they take or if they want to give her some character development at all.

Then again, its not genre I go into but if they like it then let them like it.

Fair enough. If guys can have girls on a string, why can't girls have guys on a string? That said, I'm pretty sure I've never actually seen a reverse harem show.

I think it could happen either way in the real world. Honestly I would say a reverse harem is more likely in real life than the normal Anime style.

There's actually only a small handful of reverse harems out there in existence, maybe about 20 series in total. People mention reverse harem a lot but it's such an incredibly niche sub genre that it should just be grouped with harem as a whole for the most part.

I've seen about 4 of the series in question, and I tended to enjoy them for the most part. Ouran High School Host Club is probably one of the most memorable examples of the genre for most people, and I enjoyed it. I also saw Fruits Basket, which was pretty good as well.

Beyond that I've seen Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (Wallflower), and it was ok....my issues with it stemmed from the animation, kind of crappy story, and episodic nature of the series rather than the fact it's a bunch of guys and one girl. I also saw Brothers Conflict, which was watchable but very generic. I would have liked it the same if it was harem or reverse harem to be honest.

There are a few others I dropped, but it was mostly due to either age (Fushigi Yugi, Boys over Flowers), or just being too melodramatic. Or even just too focused on the harem aspect. Harems in general aren't something I seek out and enjoy regularly. They have to have something else going for them to be something I can appreciate- such as excellent use of comedy.
