NARUTO BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T KNOW HOW TO SHUT UP! Seriously. What's the point? On YouTube, they have all these keyboard warriors fighting on comments over stuff about Naruto and not only that, EVEN IN REAL LIFE. In school, during my break, I'm trying to watch an anime or something while eating lunch, and next to me, there are ppl SCREAMING INTO EACH OTHERS EARS arguing about something that happened in Naruto. Even with high quality earbuds I have, I can't hear my anime because of them. This is why I like slice of life. Stuff we watch, we can just shut the f up and enjoy the anime and not cause problems to other people

Fanboy phases? Which, forms your strong bias (that it isn't the most epic of epic shit on the planet) towards the show and you (I'm assuming usually?) end up disliking the show because of this?

Don't get me wrong, I don't believe the anime is bad. My friends just oversell the series, and puts my expectations high. I know they oversell it, but it still highlights the negatives of the series when I watch it. I can't really help it; I subconsciously bias the show and exaggerate the negatives, though mostly when speaking about it to the friends. I haven't finished AoT, but I believe the series is a pretty solid one, although nowhere near as good as they put it out to be. It only ticks me off when a friend treats it as the greatest anime of all time, and for that reason I just can't get interested in the series enough to want to complete it, and since I like to finish what I start, I don't involve myself in the series.

NICE! So can I assume you see what the school days really is? A portray of what a real harem would look like if the MC actully did what the viewers wanted, nail every ditsy bimbo in sight.

Yeah, not only that, but it's like how games like Persona 3 and 4, and other dating games, where the player is rewarded for "maximizing" every chick possible, and it shows just how messed up that really is, how that would hurt the people involved: so it's not just a look at anime, but how other niche parts of otaku-fandom like eroge videogames portray really, really, really harmful and messed up views on human relationships.

(Makes sense, considering it was originally a Visual Novel).

Exactly, It was a play by play of a what you would expect any of the game players to do within the game, Any player that says they would just try and win one girl over is a blatant liar, since they know the consequences aren't real. However once that is animated for everyone to see, we all lose our minds, When most of the harem anime people love are based on game premises like this, except the lack of killing of course, further signifying "there is no consequences if you hurt everyone around you"

Ah, now I get what you mean. Yes, I'm the same way with Gintama, but in my case it has to do with the internet fanbase. I didn't think it was all that it's cracked up to be, from my experience watching it (as in, not funny) -- or on the flip side where everyone says School Days is atrocious. I really liked it.

Naruto- I like the original series a lot, but as I aged, I saw that Naruto Shippuden wasn't to my liking, but because of nostalgic purposes I gave it another go. For me, it was the ignorant, rabid fan base that stuck the dagger into Naruto's heart.

Nah.... Kishimoto did that all by himself... <.<'

Also, am I the only one that avoids most of the fan-bases on most series? Fanboys/girls are all over every type of series, and there are even MORE the more popular a series gets. However, the show is only as good or as bad as its own merits show it to be, and has nothing to do with how bad a fanbase can be at all. :/

I have no idea why, but I find I have a dislike of many shows that are very popular - Attack on Titan, Gundam 00, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Bleach, Naruto, and so on. In each of those cases, I got halfway through, started really hating the world and characters, and then stopped. But the relentless fanboying over those shows by the general anime comunity makes a small part of my brain start to tell me that my opinions are wrong and that I'm stupid for not liking things, and that in turn just makes me even more resentful. I hate things more if other people like them. That sounds really awful XD

Man, i've seen A LOT of hate for Naruto these past few days...definitely more than usual.

Series is great and i really think i started liking it even more seeing all the hate it gets. Do you know how many shounen anime do the same things some of you criticize Naruto for?

The hate has more to do with the current direction that the series is going, that is COMPLETELY removed from how everything went previously. At least, that is how I can see the sudden increase in "hate." Sadly, from my experience, the current hate is of former fans like myself that really DON'T want to hate it, but the totally collapse of the writing has skewed the current views of the series.

As for other Shonen... You are right on that! However, Naruto started off a whole lot better than this before collapsing completely into its own girth.

The current direction is definitely on the decline, there's no doubt about that. I'm referring to past and present of the series though. Just because the direction isn't the best currently doesn't mean it wasn't good once upon a time.

I just didn't really get how previous Naruto fans (not you o'course) are completely opposed to how the show was and is just because they've seen a couple different shows haha

When it comes to a series like Naruto, there were ALWAYS haters that were going to be there. It is an unavoidable fact with popular series, just like it is an unavoidable fact that there are going to be rabid fanboys/girls with a popular series.

As for me, when I look back at how good it used to be, the rage only builds, because all of those good things feel invalidated by the last five years to me. God damn, Naruto was the first series that got me heavily into manga. It really hurts how much I hate everything at this point. DX

That's the pattern for becoming an otaku. People usually start with mainstream ones (Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, AoT, SAO, etc.) and when they get into all the others, they start getting bored of them. And completely change their views of anime.

Whenever a community says that a certain anime is the best ever.

ex: When SAO finished, every big fan acted as if it was the best anime.

I loved SAO, but it isn't the best anime ever...

EXACTLY!!! Nobody has the right to say something is the best anime ever unless they have watched all the animes that ever existed. THIS is why I have problems with Naruto fanboys. They act and talk like Naruto is the only anime that exists

Yeah, there was definitely a period where i got annoyed at all the things going on and decided to take a break from the series, it happens. Every time something pops up now i always think, "what the hell is going on" but i take it in stride lol

Huh...never really happened to me tbh. My views usually compound and widen rather than change, but i get what your saying.
