Post any habits/ticks or anything you must do as a routine

I have a few habits that my family and friends think is odd/weird.

1. I must have a fan running when I go to sleep and there can ABSOLUTELY be no light.

I have to have the fan as white noise, I've tried to sleep without it but I just can't. although any other noise will wake me up right away. As for the no light, I have my room made up as a cave... heavy curtains, something to cover the bottom of the door, and my alarm clock is flipped (yes even the faint red light needs to be covered.)

2. I MUST wash my hands after eating anything or before touching my computer or game controllers.

my friends think it's annoying that I have to have them wash their hand before using my controllers or computer. I also hate it when they touch the screen so I'm constantly wiping the screen and even the computer. I have to wash my hands after eating mostly because I think it's nasty to start touching stuff with sticky/greasy/crumb covered hands...... no just no.

so my family/friends all say that I have an OCD and that I'm a clean freak, which now that I think about it...... I guess I am.

I used to be like that, too. Everyone in my family needs white noise to sleep. Mostly it's just a fan, but my father can't sleep without the TV on. When I moved out, though, I started to love sleeping in absolute silence. Now, when I go home, I can't sleep when I can hear my father's TV or my brother playing video games. Way too much noise.

I like sleeping with no light, too, but at home I have a terrarium in my bedroom with a faint red night light that is actually rather comforting.

People always poke fun at my OCD with food. Nothing on my plate can touch. Ever. If it touches, it has been contaminated and I can't eat it. I also don't like going in public restrooms because they're gross, I can't stand seeing trash on the sidewalk so I pick it up, and I try to straighten any wall decorations I see if they're even slightly crooked.

i dont really have many habits etc. that i follow rigorously.

there's only one odd thing i can think of, which i don't even realise i'm doing most of the time. when i go upstairs, i get to the 7th step and just automatically step up to the 9th. it feels like my body drags me up an extra step, sometimes i've tripped where i cant stop the impulse. maybe my subconscious has a huge fear of the dreaded 8th step. doesn't happen when i walk down them though..

i also have a habit of constantly applying body spray/perfume multiple times a day, even if im just sitting in my room. i bathe etc. everyday but i still have a fear like I DONT WANNA SMELL.

This. So much this. I hate getting greasy stuff on my things. I'm strict like none other when it comes to this. If i see as much as one tiny stain on any of my belongings, it's a crisis. I tend to wash my hands twice when I'm going to touch some of my most precious things.

Other than that, if i see some misplaced products in stores, of any kind, i tend to find out where it's supposed to be, and put it back where it belongs. That habit might be because I've worked in several stores myself, and know how tedious it can be. I swear, finding products like milk, meat or other things, together with toilet paper and stuff like that gets me so irritated.

I will say I have the light problem as well. Unfortunately I have to deal with it because I have a street light outside my bedroom window. I also have a lot of hair and as such it tends to fall out, as do some hairs on my legs so I sweep off my bed every night before getting into it (too much information, am I right?). I often cut my nails quite a lot, too, to keep them short. I was pestered about my nails growing long a lot when I was at school and eventually I started to cut them because hearing that same shallow comment annoyed me. I also have a habit of leaving my clothes all over the floor.

yeah I work at one as a night stock clerk, I can't count how many times I've found meat hidden behind rice or salad dressing. the sad part is, there is a cooler not 10 feet from the place they hid it. is it really that hard to walk it over to the cooler so it won't spoil?

If I go out to a restaurant or some other public place I have to sit with my back to a wall or I get extremely paranoid and uncomfortable

I cut my nails short because I played an instrument in middle school and high school. if I had a street light out side my window I would go crazy, it's bad enough I have a charger that flashes rainbow colors (that's what I get for being cheap) and my clock.

I feel your pain, I like to see who comes in and out, I really hate it when someone is sitting behind me because I feel like I have to look behind me every two minuets

I know right? It's like they do it on purpose. Heck, I'm pretty sure some people do it on purpose.

I have to sleep on my stomach like a turtle or I will not sleep at all. I will sit there and think until morning comes. I also have a fan as white noise and to freeze my room because I like to hibernate like a bear. I require absolute darkness and have a bed sheet over my window and a pillow on my head to block any excess noise or light. I occasionally throw my phone (used as an alarm) across the room. I hate my alarm clock tone with a passion.
