I have to be laying down, giving my absolute attention to the first episode.

When I hear new characters, I try to guess the name of the seiyu. From tome to time I guess right.

When D-Frag was airing last season I watched it before I slept if that counts. That was awesome.

Same, always watch the OP and ED of the first episode regardless if I like them or not for that show.

Give the episode my full attention then watch again to notice things that I didn't notice before and try to predict the plot.

If I like the op/ed I'll watch them if not I"ll skip them after i seen them the first time.

Also if its an anime that I seen a previous form of (light novel, manga) I tend to skip around a bit after the 2 ep

I always give the OP and ED at least one chance too but I think that's a fairly common thing

Same, OP and ED I usually always watch all the way through. If I really end up liking the song I look for it on Youtube and add it to a playlist.

Depending on how much I like the anime, I sometimes go online and look for any manga that may have been released prior and scope or scoop those (wether I can read it online or if I have to buy them).

I also usually go add the show as well to myanimelist as well.

I always listen the OP/EDs the first time, but I actually refuse to watch them. They tend to be a bit too revealing of plot developments in the first few episodes, and I like to go in with as clean a slate as possible.

I also peruse the show's MAL to see if there are any seiyuus I like. (This will sometimes wait until I have an "I know that voice!" moment.)

Yes, the anime has until the end of the first episode to make me want to watch the rest of it. First impressions are everything, regardless of whether or not it gets better from episode 2 onward.

Having begun my consumption of anime in the long-gone days of VHS and the incredibly rare late-night television appearance, I find myself now rather set in my ways: unless it is absolutely terrible, always watch OP and ED to savor that anime goodness as though it were a limited supply of air, and generally select shows to watch on a one or two episode per week basis, on a single night, rather than straight through. This mimics my viewing of the Bleach anime in its English-dub form, for which I have watched every episode aired, when it aired, on Adult Swim--what a long, painful journey it has been and will continue to be. But this is likewise true of both of the FMA series, and Inuyasha--sans a few unfortunate moments of rescheduling by the network.

I say this to highlight that for me, a weekly, episodic form for anime consumption has become a habit--nay, ritual--I apply to new shows even when available in their entirety. The advent of (legal) streaming with simulcast has returned me to my normal, comfy state of metered consumption.

I go down my checklist of themes and tropes as I watch the episode. If there are too many check marks, pass on the show.

Am I the only one that watches OP and ED almost all the time, throughout the show's run, even when marathoning?

>.> I must be really weird.
