Anime Fans Are Intolerant of New People Joining the Base

People want to believe they're special, and when their smaller group becomes larger, it threatens that self conception.

Let me spoil it for everyone. Nobody is special, There are 7 billion people and more that have since passed on. Chances are that you are not unique and most the stuff you're doing has been done before and you likely weren't first.

If you move to another niche, people will eventually propagate there as well. I started anime with Akira, but I encourage new audiences to the anime scene. There is so much to be enjoyed and shared.

I would dispute that

Even grown men have acted like this very publicly

Yes you get the stereotypical "The internet is a terrible place full of bullies" but there are some fairly extreme ones out there

Tony Harris an AWARD WINNING comic book artist in 2012 got a lot of negative attention for posting on his Facebook and twitter about how he was sick of seeing "Fake Cosplay Nerd Girls" at 'his' conventions. He went on about his belief that the majority of the girls at conventions are only there to use cosplay as an excuse to dress sexily to prey on insecure boys that they wouldn't give the time of day to outside a convention and that they do this to feel special
So in short as sickening and petty as it is, that sort of behavior does happen and it's sadly common

CR actually had an article on this, you can probably still find it

Nah serious, care to elaborate on this?

Lol don't take offense, but I just think it's rather odd that grown adults watch MLP. It's nothing to be ashamed of. I don't look down upon you or anything or think you're a "faggot" like most of those intolerant bastards say. Keep enjoying what you enjoy!

Oh right, I thought you meant that they were intolerant. No worries, this is an opinion I'm pretty used to by now, however, I'll say that the content of MLP is definitely a lot less conventionally "strange" for an adult westerner to enjoy than a large amount of anime, in fact than most slice of life shows with ecchi or suggestive aspects and high-pitched voices. I also watch plenty of those though

In my previous post I tried to explain the resentment or bitterness felt by 'original' or whatever fans of something, but there is a flipside to everything, and I think you summed the flipside to that one quite nicely.

But whatever age they are, 25 or 50 or 75, they aren't really grown men if they act that way, are they? They are just insecure boys that grew older without ever growing up, engaging in a pathetic effort to deflect attention from their own perceived (though possibly real) shortcomings.

And, yes, even "award winnng comic artists" ... success as an artist is no guarantee of mental or emotional maturity, as the juvenile posturing of the example you gave remnds us.

Ok I admit I should have asked for specification from the beginning

Were you saying that only immature 'men' cry about fake fan girls? Because when I read your original post thought you were saying that 'fake nerd hate' doesn't happen

Yes, whether they are 25 or 75 on the outside, if they are playing the "fake fan girls" game, they are insecure snot nosed little boys on the inside.

Of course it happens ... there are. after all, quite a lot of men running around who are insecure snot nosed little boys on the inside.

That's why I wrote:

So, whether they are teenage or middle aged, that seems to me to be the behavior of stuck up boys. If they'd gotten around to growing up into men somewhere along the way, they would know better.

Sounds about right, and yeah it really is quite pathetic

Aside from the stereotypical online crap no one I know has really encountered it
Though I do know someone who saw it and considered not cosplaying at a convention they were going to because of it

And I apologize for misunderstanding your original post

Brony fandom *shivers*

oh gawd :c

Fandom`s tend to have a really negative to it. I noticed the negatives just spike out compared to the good. Now this is my opinion but seeing it from an outsiders point of view of a fandom your feeded with many of the negatives. Now I'm not saying every fandom is bad

Thanks for the picture. I got a good chuckle out of it. And I would agree to an extent. Not every fandom is bad, though I have seen quite a few with some interesting individuals...:o

I hate new people who start watching anime.

Get your own hobby, losers. All the anime belongs to me.

I try to avoid spoilers, but man, it can't be algae from the seas, the seas have all died.
