I read in the news that Europe (excluding German speaking territories) will be able to watch it.
I'm in Belgium, with a small part speaking German (it's mainly French and Dutch):

(Green part)

Does that block the rest of the country from watching it ?

Thanks.

I cannot find the ISO code for Belgium (be) listed in the <media:restriction relationship="allow" type="country"> tag for the series, so apparently so.

Unless, of course, it was a mistake, since in the three Benelux countries. Belgium would be the one most likely to be included in the French language region and least likely to be included in the German.

Go to the series page, add .rss to the URL for the page, then hit Control-U (with most browsers) to look at the code of the .rss page. That reveals the <media:restriction tag ... I would normally hit Control-F to search by name and type media: into the text box, it usually takes you right there.

You're welcome. I only wish I had been able to report a better result. I had expected it to be there, since as you noted, German is only a minority language in Belgium, and as agila61 noted, it is normally grouped with the French-speaking countries.

To answer your question:

1. Go to the show page (e.g., http://www.crunchyroll.com/chaika-the-coffin-princess-).

2. Scroll down to the bottom and look for the RSS icon (just to the left of the "Forum" link and below the publisher).

3. Click on that RSS link.

4. Right click on your browser and select "View page source" (or your browser's equivalent).

5. Search for or look for "restriction". (Note that this will be listed for each episode entry, but they will normally all be the same).

I find that copying and pasting that line into notepad makes it easier to search for specific country's ISO code.

I've just reported the same thing on the announcement page.
Let's hope that it's an error.

The next announced title, Dai-Shogun - Great Revolution, is region-restricted here in Belgium and also has the "Europe (excluding German speaking territories)" part, so I guess this can't be called coincidence anymore.

Apparently there are also some license issues for the Danish people.

Well, when a title is english only, they don't block Canada although a part of it speaks French, do they ?
Waiting for an official answer about this.

At least a large number of Danes speak German.

(1) If the contract has a standard terms and definitions and defines Belgium as a German speaking country, then Crunchyroll should notify the licensor that their terms and definitions are in error, so they can correct this when practicable. If some German language licensor at some previous time told them that Belgium is a German speaking country, they pulled a fast one on the Japanese.

(2) If Crunchyroll is interpreting the condition as applying to Belgium, because it saw in some reference that some part of Belgium is German-speaking. I think they are making a mistake. Counting Belgium as a German speaking country is like counting the United States as a Chinese speaking country because 1% of Americans speak Chinese.

Right, but the difference with Chinese in the USA, is that German is one of the three official languages, with French and Dutch.
I cannot speak German, and I forgot Dutch. I learned it at school but never used it (so wrong, I know )
Reflecting on that, and as unpleasant as it can be for 99% of the population that can't speak German, they're right with the restriction

I had a problem with Riddle Story of Devil and I've sent mail to support.
Here is response

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry.

For this particular title, Poland has been deemed as included in German speaking by the Publisher.

Sincere apologies for any inconvenience.
Regards,
~Bjaker

I live in Poland, Slavic country and last time when German was here official language was during second World War
I still can't watch it but at least I know why, although the reason has made me laugh.

Japan was allied with Germany, after all. Perhaps they have a problem letting go of the past.
