Racism From Your Own Race

I believe the term racism is being misused. Ethnocentrism might be the more applicable.

Washed-out and rinsed the term LOL.

Nicest thing anyone ever said to me. Must be an alien. I hope you come in peace.

And nobody ever guesses where I'm from correctly. Because I don't look like anything. More of a mess of everywhere. Got some Asian, European, Native American, etc. I don't identify with any place. And nobody ever remembers the color of my eyes, ever. That's apart from my age, which changes depending on who I ask, and I started getting some white hair in my teens. /sigh

Maybe the alien is me...

Nope. I can literally blend in anywhere. Everything about me appears so common that you could drop me in any capital of any country and nobody would blink twice about seeing me there. No one can really criticize my race because of it. I swear, it was like I was made to be a spook or something, since I can blend in so well. Drop me in a crowd, you'll lose sight of me forever. Maybe I should become a CIA agent or something. Roll with it.

Well, being white and male and a ginger, I've always envied those who don't have to fear the sun and their ability to tan instead of burst into flames at the mere hint of summer warmth. But seeing and watching those of other races (which is really a misnomer, since we can all interbreed) treat and interact with one another, I've noticed with African Americans, especially here in the South, that lighter skinned women will be shunned and ignored by darker skinned women, even in the college educated groups.

Being a mongrel of all kinds of races, I've never been part of a race. Each race would class me with the other.

Mexican American right here and of yeah i had plenty of trouble with that in high school. Out caste by my own people only because i was born in the US. The Mexicans were always quick to point me out for my light skin & my poor Spanish. It sucked! its not like i treated them like an enemy or looked down at them for not being citizens. I treated everyone equally and with the same respect i would want back but unfortunately were like this throughout my 4 years in High School. Not that it really had an negative impact since i had plenty of friends but boy did i get into plenty of heated arguments because of it :/

Hey, my fellow one. I'm a Filipino too and migrated here in the US. I have same skin color as you and ever since I came here, I never experienced what you encountered from other Asians or other races. They were all nice and fun to talk with. If you are updated to the current happenings and events in Asia, I bet you know that some Filipino and Chinese civilians (including Taiwanese and Hong Kong people) are right now hating each other. If one person is abused in one country, one person is also abused in the other. People in each country are taking vengeance on innocent people. Filipinos take advantage of Chinese people in the Philippines and Chinese take advantage of Filipinos who are in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. I'm not saying all, but some.

By the way, I don't hate nor dislike Chinese people since I understand that my country and my fellows are at fault sometimes. I know how to dislike a certain person but never know how to hate a certain race.

If you were to ask me, this is not racism. Friends make jokes out of anywhere. I'm sure they are just teasing you.

asian is a blanket term. Chinese, Filipino, Japanese etc are all considered different races. many asian foreign nationals do not identify with other nationalities as 'racial comrades'. the view that all asians are a collective no matter their country is a very ignorant one.

you're not experiencing racism from your own race, you're experiencing racism as a member of the Filipno race from members of the Chinese/Japanese/Korean race.

also the Japanese, the Chinese and the Koreans have a lot of historical reason to hate each other. it is all very petty in this day and age though, and a lot of the new generation don't really care (just as the current generation of Americans don't look at Russia like the generation that lived through the red scare did).

as for racism towards darker skinned folk, i don't have much context to say much about that. i'm one of those light skinned bastards.

Well with the way Russia has been acting of late, that may not hold true for long. The public opinion in America towards Russia is very poor right now.
