Synopsis

Guts, known as the Black Swordsman, seeks sanctuary from the demonic forces that pursue him and his woman, and also vengeance against the man who branded him as an unholy sacrifice. Aided only by his titanic strength, skill, and sword, Guts must struggle against his bleak destiny, all the while fighting with a rage that might strip him of his humanity. Berserk is a dark and brooding story of outrageous swordplay and ominous fate, in the theme of Shakespeare's Macbeth.

oh god yes

Is it too much to hope for another season of the anime as well or is that just dream land material?

The movies are going to adapt the whole manga -- or at least, that's what I remember reading.

As someone who hasn't gotten around to watching the movies, I hope they do it justice, even though I know they probably won't.

Berserk is definintlly in my top 3 series of manga, I love how indirect the story is, (for the first half that is), I have read the whole series several times and I still can't get enough, It pains me waiting a month or two for a 18 page chapter, However I like the fact Kentaro is not rushing things and is taking his time too end it, even if he hasn't been the healthiest man alive. The only person I can think of with a bigger sick leave is Yoshihiro Togashi (Hunter). All I hope is that Kentaro finishes Berserk. If it doesn't end I will be highly dissapointed!!!

You were definitely not the only one. I just finished reading it and I did the same thing... with a few fist pumps thrown in for good measure. I also loved everyone's reactions because it is probably the first time they've seen him sustain physical harm at all afaik.

By far and my favorite, most influential, adored manga to date. I've got Guts' curse brand tattoo'd on my upper right pectoral, and this is coming from a guy who previously abhorred tattoos in general and the commitment they bring. I love the message that many of the chapters send and the moral implications (or lack thereof in some cases) of many of the actions that the characters are forced to make. It's the idea that when you're between a rock and a hard place...you're either crushed, or you crush whatever is in your way. I love it. The resolve, determination and sometimes insanity of humanity is on perfect display in the series at all times, and it's done in such a beautiful way.

I was a bit let down with the movies, and have always been nostalgic with the anime despite knowing that it's mostly subpar and in some moments crap, but I really cannot wait for the day when this all inevitably gets a truly justified, honorable cinematic release that shows some of my favorite moments of the greatest epic adventure known to the entire comic book realm. I'm a pretty avid reader of American comics as well and still, very few moments have impacted me anywhere near the way that Berserk has.

GAATSU!!!

I have to admit though, when I initially got into the series so many years ago...the initial shock of waiting was ridiculously torturous and now I'm all "A year without a Berserk update? PSH. THAT'S NOTHIN'." Sad and awesome all at once. I do hope Kami-sama gets back to a somewhat, anywhere near comprehensible schedule in the next millennium though... I'm still young but I am not getting any younger.

I read the last update from last month and enjoyed the slap that Griffin pretty much received.

Here's hoping to more interesting updates in the near future and a satisfying ending for Guts.
