Here is a strange thing ive known.

Unlike adaptations, original anime tend to be more loose. Sure the more generic ones are obvious, like who hasn't seen guilty bullet-i mean black bullet before?

Trigger isnt just unique, they're ad libing everything.

Episode 1 of Gurren Lagann hinted at the eventual craziness....but the forgot the plan and just winged it by episode 20.

Watching Kill la Kill....same thing! They were going for shounen battle arcs but changed it after episode 3. The Elite 4 were never intended to be so crutial and visible. Things just took off so Trigger would play those up while dropping the less fun stuff like Tsumugu.

Kill la kill was one hell of a weekly show. You can see the differences week by week as they changed things up during the shows run... its part of Hiroyuki's style.

I don't think they're improvising everything. I think KLK actually had a good deal of foreshadowing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iYcXOf2Atg

True. What I meant to imply, Trigger is willing to change their plans quite a bit. A lot of cool scenes go nowhere because they dropped their focus, Tsumugu is the most obvious case. He goes on about trying to keep up and Ryuko seesxhim training hard, but they go nowhere with it. Because the Elite 4 proved far more popular than their stereotype counterparts tend to.

Gurren Lagann is similar. They open with a Super Robot premise complete with Dr. Hell inspired villain with his own silly name and non-human army.

But somewhere along they said its not enough and skip to the later plots and fun.

Kill la Kill could have gone for 3 seasons if they really wanted a cash cow...but that's not their style.

The club leaders is another example. Episodes 1&2 have a weekly villian feel but its dropped soooo hard later on that you see the skid marks.

... Stop the Hype Train. Hype Train is what happened to Attack on Titan. Massive amounts of fans, zero amounts of intelligence upon many of them, and then they do a dis-service to the anime.

**** the Hype Train. Start with real fans. Then it can go further as an anime.
