Specifically moving ANIME you say? Hmm...

1. Clannad After Story. (it magically has a 9/10 on MyanimeList with 150000 ratings; it is spectacular, when I saw it, it changed my life)

2. Bakuman. (this is a beautiful romance story, which was in shonen jump, with three seasons and absolutely amazing feels)

3. To aru Kagaku no Railgun S (this is my third favorite anime in general, but it has feels on the level of Clannad After Story. This is a beautiful/haunting arc in the railgun anime)

4. Scrapped Princess (one of the best sci-fi/magic anime I've ever seen) It has a lot of plot twists when you watch it, and many of them are unexpected. It's an excellent series that is very moving. I mean: the premise is about a princess that if she survives until she is 16, she is prophesied to end the world. So this is a touching series, about whether she should live until then and after, or if she should let the rest of the world eliminate her as they are trying to do to save themselves. When she was at a young tender age, she was "scrapped," i.e. they tried to kill her so she obtained said nickname. It's a fantastic series.)

5. Fairy Tail. (I normally don't include shonen in top anime lists, but in this case Fairy Tail is an absolutely fantastic series. Whether the mood is happy or absolutely depressing, this show will pull you in ways I didn't know anime could pull you when you watch it. Also, the best part of the viewing experience is the fabulous music, which is probably the best from any anime I've seen. The music is godly. Also, the animation had a huge boost since they started the new season recently with a new studio.)

My dear friend Zach, you're missing out. It is seriously one of the greatest anime of all time.

It's true, Steins;Gate is definitely on my top ten list of all anime, and is much higher on many people's similar lists. Two thumbs up.

Top 5 Moving anime, hmmm... interesting way to order them...

1. Puella Magi Madoka Magica - No contest that this is #1 moving for me. Not just in terms of the actual plot, but the layers of meta-plot I feel are masterfully put together into something that makes everyone who watches it feel at least something deep about hope and the nature of the human spirit. I really think it's a modern day parable. The incredible musical score adds to all that. If anyone has reluctance to watch it because of the genre, don't worry, it really transcends itself in that regard.

2. Mirai Nikki - Gonna have to agree with Zach here, Mirai Nikki is an emotional roller coaster ride that really connects with you through the power of its cast. I have thought long and hard about this, and I believe Mirrai Nikki has the single best-written, most versatile character I have ever seen. I won't even spoil who that is, but people who have seen the show know exactly who I'm talking about.

3. Angel Beats! - Of the characters whose backstories are developed in this show, every single one of them is moving. This show is awesome because it touches on some really dark places, but manages to leave you with an overall good feeling in the end.

4. Steins;Gate - Getting harder for me to put these in definitive order... but Steins;Gate definitely has an amazing cast of characters whose stories are (almost universally) well-developed and compelling. A good watch even if you aren't that moved, but I think the characters definitely have the ability to move you.

5. Gurren Lagann - Hear me out on this one... this show in no way contains the same kind of emotional content as the other stuff on my list. That said, it has some truly inspiring parts which my friends and I often quote in real life. I think that makes Gurren Lagann its own kind of moving, and what gives it a mention on my list.

Everyone else has been pretty good about keeping it to an ordered list of 5, even tho that's difficult. So there is mine!

Seems like the guys on this forum got it all down! I have similar picks as well.

Gintama - it's so outrageously funny yet it can be deep and thoughtful. Littered with lessons and good cries, I can always count on this anime for a good pick up.
Steins;Gate - this moved me in the way that it made me think. That if I was in the characters' situation what would I do? When I finished it the first time i was left speechless.
Natsume Yuujincho - I love how this anime explored not only bonds between humans and youkai but developed into a study on human bonds and interactions. The show is relaxing and subtle but catches you off guard with how powerful, and thought-provoking it can be.
Usagi Drop - such a simple story but very personable and relatable.

I don't even need to explain why I love these, if you haven't watched any of these I feel bad for you. This is more of an anime reccomendation list really.

1st place is an indefinite tie against these 2 titles because they are in completely different genres of anime and cannot be compared logically. -- Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood (and original FMA) - Clannad (and Clannad ~After Story~)
2. Attack On Titan
3. Samurai Champloo
4. Angel Beats!
5.Eden of The East
6. My Ordinary Life
7. My Little Monster
8. Death Note
9. Anohana
10. Kyousougiga
11. Fair Tail

Also Im loving Hunter x hunter but im not done with it yet.

Damn this is pretty hard list to make because there are so many awesome ones out there!

From the top!!!!

1. Attack On Titan - Honestly this speaks for itself Attack on Titan is fing amazing. Its got action, story, mystery, love all mixed in perfectly to create a world you can't take your eyes off of.
2. Steins Gate - This story takes the notion of time travel and makes it believable in its own crazy way, where you can' wait to see what happens next. I honestly think it has some of the best characters in a anime all with awesome chemistry.
3. Code Geass - Its like a combination of Death Note meets Gundam fuck ya. This anime seriously might have one of the smartest main protagonists and makes it even hard for him to change the world. Its a a rich story with deep characters and awesome fights, all combined with some of the most shocking strategies in a battle being pulled off.
4. Kuroko's Basketball - This is the only anime that involves playing a sport I like because it honestly gives the players real life and meaning. You literally want to see their games and their lives play out equally. An anime with awesome matches and great characters keeps you wanting more.
5. Gundam Seed - Ok I know I'm gonna get some hate for this but hear me out, this anime did have some awesome things going for it even though there were problems. Just laying it out the Gundam's were all pretty bad ass and so was the conflict, and honestly I thought there was a lot of depth to both the characters and story making it pretty awesome as a whole.

I don't really watch anime that 'moves' me or usually when I'm told something will It doesn't. Thought I have had my share of moments where I'll stop and stare at the screen in awe of what I'm seeing.

1. Code Geass- The entire show had moments for me where I would sit back and just take a few moments to take in what I'm watching. Moments like(lots of big spoilers):

2. Steins;Gate - From start to finish I got so absorbed in everything that made up the show I didn't want it to end. Watching Okabe struggle time after time can be hard to watch sometimes.

3. Gosick - One of the shows that kind of left me with that 'void' feeling after I finished it. I got so invested in the atmosphere and the characters.

5. Mushishi - Every episode I'm always left in awe. Each episode tells a different story that I can just sit back and enjoy and usually evoke some sort of emotion.

5. Gundam Seed- I've rewatched Gundam Seed so many times I've lost count. I love the Gundam series when they take on the concept of War; 00,Mobile Suit, Unicorn, Wing; whenever war is tackled I always take something away from it. Seed just happens to be my favorite of the bunch that I was able to enjoy the most.

I didn't take all that much time to proofread this but I think it gets across what I'm trying to say :P

In no order

1. Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood

Has everything I want in a show, engaging story, characters that I ended up caring for, good music and good animation. Plus it's one of the few shows that has made me laugh, sad and keeping me at the edge of the seat.

2.Kara No Kyoukai

It's just so beautiful. From the animation (which is some of the best animation I have ever seen from any animated film) to the storytelling. It's just so fricken gorgeous.

3.Hunter X Hunter(2011)

Kinda the same reasoning as FMAB. Good story, very good writing and animation, good characters (I love Gon and Killua relationship, kinda wish I seen more anime that can display this much friendship, it just feels genuine)

4.Mushishi

One of the most refreshing anime I have seen. Like there's no gore, no fights, nothing sexual or psychological , just a show where I can relax and have a nice cup of hot chocolate

5. Anohana

Really made me think of the idea of losing someone important to me and having to move on. Plus it had one of the most upsetting final episodes I have seen in a while and has one of my favorite female characters.

I dunno, I can't think of any specific five that've really moved me. I try to take a bit from all of them, I suppose.
