1. Attack on Titan. I'm not sure why, but I felt like a whole new person after watching it.

2. Kuroko's Basketball. Makes me want to get out and make a bunch of friends. And play sports.

3. Haikyu!! It just motivates me to try hard and be a better person. Sports anime just have that kind of power over me.

4. Death Note. It made me take an interest in psychology and motivated me to try harder in school...for a while, anyway.

5. Monster. Same as Death Note.

Clannad
It has to top my list here. It was moving in a way I hadn't experienced before and changed my perspective on what makes a good anime series or not. Prior to that I only watched the Toonami stuff from my high school days and a little bit of Shonen, but after watching Clannad a few years ago I've watched ten times (or more) anime than I'd ever seen in my life.

Anohana
I don't love this anime, and I doubt I'll ever even re watch it. But I have to admit it's pretty much a mini-Clannad in terms of the amount of feels it brings to the table.

Steins;Gate
I literally just finished the series a few minutes before posting this, so it's fresh on my mind. I felt pretty blown away by it though and I had a few moments of misty eyes. I can't believe how many genres one anime is able to bring to life so well...drama, comedy, romance, sci-fi, slice of life, mystery, moe, harem, and probably more...it's insane how good that series is. Seriously. If you haven't watched it yet do it right now.

Naruto
I hate to say it, but there have been moments during Shippuden that were really emotionally satisfying. The problem is you have to slog through hours of bullcrap to get to them...but sometimes it's so good that it's worth it. Sometimes.

I can't think of a fifth so I'll leave it at that. There's too many other contenders to choose from.

Bleach: It's my favorite all time anime. The story drew me in and the action keep me coming back. Hope they do another arc or something.
Naruto: I started watching this for the action. But there has been some really good story arc's.
Attack on Titan: The action and horror elements are really great.
Clannad/Clannad After Story: This was one of the first anime that made me tear up.
Sword Art Online: I was looking for another great action anime and found this one. The story and concept was great.
extra one:
Kimi ni Todoke: It's a really lovely and romantic story. Read the manga and had to see the anime.
Angel Beats!: It's a really touching and sad story.

I'm so glad to see naruto! First anime i ever watched when i was younger. Started the day it aired on TV and Mostly the First 220 episodes and the beginning of shippuden are so amazing. Not saying it isn't now because it definitely is especially getting to see all the backstory on Obito, Kakashi, and Yamato!

But in terms of moving the original 220 are the best and a lot of early Shippuden. The story of Naruto's struggles are amazing and moving. Going through his whole life hated by everyone because of what he had in him (not even his choice) and never being acknowledged. And despite all this he pushed forward and fought for the ones he loved and cared about (even if the feeling wasnt returned). Such an amazing story! amazing messages.

Look..I can't focus. I'm on a time limit here, and I've got a lot of shows to watch and I've seen and I want to read the forums and...blaaaah.

Mobile Suit Gundam and Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam - Don't let all the 90's kids fool you, Gundam Wing is to Zeta Gundam what Clone Wars was to Empire Strikes Back(With G being Phantom Menace....AND I LIKE PHANTOM MENACE) 79's original introduces Gundam far better than any before it, and I tried for YEARS to get into Gundam. Seed, Wing, G....nothing worked. I was always asking "Why are these Gundams so much more awesome...and why does it feel like they're trying to sell a product onto me?"
But the original? That's a straight up war story there. The motivation behind the White Base crew and Zeon really surprised me, from episode 1. The very first Mecha-Fight scene in the show involves the protagonist, Amuro Ray, killing off two named soldiers. The nameless mooks not only have names, but very emotional death scenes all throughout the show...and it's amazing to me. It's just a great series, even the animation, with dated colors and art, holds up.
It's not until Zeta Gundam in 85 that the series REALLY took off however. The animation, the budget, the style....it was just far better. Zeta Gundam's detailed animation holds up to this day, with the Remake movies aired in 04ish being simply HD styled retouches over old animation. Unlike the Rebuild Films, they came out quickly to huge acclaim, AND had few changes. One of which was editing the original super super dark ending to be....much nicer. But, it's up as my favorite Anime for a reason, and those are a scant few.

Um.....others include Fooly Cooly, Kill la Kill(They EASILY made it up here) the original Dragonball, Berserk, The Slayers, GTO...

It's a complicated answer, now if you'll excuse me, I must be off.

I do believe that Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, Fullmetal Alchemist and Fairy Tail will all be included on most if not all lists. Here is mine without those big name ones.

1) Steins;Gate - One of the best anime of all time.

2) Deathnote - Light and L are probably some of the best antagonists, no question about it.

3) Psycho Pass - This world could actually exist in the future, makes you think.

4) Attack on Titan - I was in awe watching this.

Tie for 5th

5) Guilty Crown - The music is what really made this so good.

5) Sword Art Online - Just enjoyed this one alot.

I have seen your top 4 choices and I completely agree. Love your profile pic btw- Kougami Shinya is so badass.

1. One Piece - Has easily the largest number of emotional moments of all the anime I've watched. It also manages to have the funniest as well. The most complete story in all of anime.

2. FMA - Another series with lots of strong emotional moments. Following the journey of the Elric brothers is great.

3. Steins;Gate - Watching a great character like Okabe go through so much was definitely moving. Also one of the very few romances I liked and wasn't completely boring.

4. Rurouni Kenshin - Watching Kenshin on his road to redemption and the other characters he encounters is great.

5. Naruto - Lots of strong moments in this one too.
