Digital or Physical?
Posted 4/11/14 , edited 4/11/14
Do you prefer a physical copy of your books, or a digital? Such as E-Books on things like a tablet, kindle, nook, etc.

I personally prefer digital. It's cheaper, easier, more organized... But I do like to show off what I'm reading when I'm out and about.

If I'm going with novels or anything primarily text-I'll take the ebook version any day. I get a lot of people asking me why I still rock the old-school e-ink Kindle and that's just because it's so dang good at reading books.

If it's anything graphic-intensive (manga, comics, etc.), it depends. For the most part, digital is fine. Hooray tablets!

It depends. I do a lot of night reading and a nook helps a great deal with that. Like you said E-Books are cheaper and take up less space in my more.

Nothing feels better than an actual book in your hands though.

Physical, but I only prefer books that give me a stat bonus when I read them

Digital.

Occupies less space, multi-functional, easier to maintain page, search, bookmark, web search things, and to read in oddly lit environments.

Depends on what I am reading. I would probably be fine reading Manga digitally but I would prefer to read it and especially my fantasy books in paper format.

I prefer the books but I can't afford them that much so I usually read from the internet.

I prefer physical.

Ignoring pirated copies, a digital copy is fine so long as 1) you legally own the copy you've purchased, 2) you control the copy--it isn't solely stored in the cloud, and 3) the format isn't proprietary. I've seen too many people lose books they've bought for one or more of those reasons.

Ugh, honestly, this is a hard one for me.

While I absolutely love the physical copy of a book, they are just so expensive(not to mention they take up space after you've finished them). The digital versions are not only cheaper, but you can carry around hundreds of books on a little tablet or whatever.
If I really had to choose I'd probably pick the digital.

I would have to say i prefer physical copies all around. Although the reasons i prefer physical copies differs depending on the type of book.

For Novels/non-graphic books, i prefer physical for the reason that i tend to cross reference/flip back and forth quite a bit. I find it more annoying to skim through pages trying to locate something i read a while before hand in digital format compared to the physical.

For graphical novels/comics i prefer physical because there is something about having the pages in front of you and the smell of the comic. Also there is always the potential that many many years down the line the comic may be worth something :D

I prefer physical but I enjoy reading digital to some degree

That's why I like what marvel comics has been doing. Most of their comics now if you buy a physical copy it comes with a code that's good for a little over a year that gets you a digital copy as well

I collect book series so i prefer physical because it looks cool all lined up on the wall but for manga/comics i prefer digital since there are so many more of them and i dont have the room

Digital. Saves space, and means I can carry more things around than would be convenient to in physical form.

Since the question is what do I prefer, I'll go digital. I love real books; they smell so good (odd phrasing, but my point stands), but it's too inconvenient these days and my Kindle is fantastic in its own right.

As for manga, I read a lot more online, but that's because it's the only way to get a translation for most things. I definitely prefer physical.
