I was just stoked beyond comprehension when it hit crunchyroll. Then part 1 ended shy of ten episodes and with as little of a role an important character like Baron Zepelli had I'm willing to bet they skipped alot of material. I am a little disappointed. With 25+ years of manga material to cover and they wrap up the whole first series in nine episodes? It's bull****. The anime adaptation of Parts 1 and 2 proved only to be a mad dash to get to Part 3 Stardust Crusaders. Tell the audience just enough about parts 1 and 2 to establish the history/backstory in order to show the fan favorite part/arc of the manga.

All in all "Poor show ol' chap."

Granted it won't stop me from watching. It is a shame though the anime did not cover parts 1 and 2 more extensively and those parts will probably never have an "official" english translation and distribution; which again Stardust Crusaders did...

Umm. I think you're mistaken. The show actually covers the manga pretty well. It's just that Part 1 & Part 2 are short in comparison to Part 3 which has more chapters than Part 1 & 2 combined.

Also they just released part 2, so there are now a ton more episodes. Really Part 1/2 are just build up to part 3. There is a reason Stardust Crusaders (Part 3) is considered THE JoJo story. Stick with it, you won't be disappointed.

Don't drop this anime too soon, and it's not going to be a failure like Pupa.

One thing I love about Jojo is that I feel it captures the era the manga was released. Feels like I'm watching an 80s/90s anime but made today and I can appreciate that. Era of some of my favorite animes. Why I'll keep watching despite what I perceive as missing content/chapters in parts 1 and 2 so don't worry about that Karkarov, wisdom.

I'm really enjoying Battle Tendency, which is only 17 episodes and doesn't feel AS rushed as Phantom Blood was with its 9 episodes. Jonathon and Joseph both seem more interesting then school uniform cliche hero Jotaro. I still don't think Jonathon got a fair shake though.

Even when I was reading Phantom Blood in the manga everything felt rushed. It's not in the anime only. The manga was around 40 chapters long. I'm not that big of a fan of part 1, so it doesn't bother me that much. Plus, Jonathan didn't click with me as a character that I can enjoy seeing.

Part 2 on the other hand was a huge step up. It had a better a Jojo, better plot, better everything, and the anime did it justice.

The best thing from part 1 IMO makes a return in part 3, so I'm hopeful that it's going to be a good part, since I haven't read the manga for part 3. All I can say about part 3 is so far so good.

I'm honestly not a fan of Phantom Blood so I didn't mind that it was only nine episodes. Battle Tendency is my favorite portion of JoJo and I really enjoyed the anime adaption of it.

Just got through the first two episodes of Stardust and looked at the roster for the All-Star Battle. Boy, looks like I'd better get on board with stand or this show's going to lose me. Shame because hamon/ripple was very inline with Saint Seiya, Street Fighter, and Fist of the North Star and I love fighter animes. Stand seems very Shaman King for lack of a better comparison. Everyone in parts 3-8 are going to be using Stand :/

well you always get feelings like that when you read a manga first then watch a anime. thats why i refuse to read the aot manga or naruto. but anime shows are only 20+ minutes long i doubt they really skipped anything thats so important to the show that it just breaks the anime for you. same with books and movies, you cant go as deep into stuff as you do a book.

Have you actually read the manga? SBR revolved around Spin, not everyone uses Stands.

I find it interesting that a lot of new fans are actually upset ripple is "gone" and stands are the new norm. When JoJo 2012 first started I remember seeing a lot of people going "When are we going to get to friggin' stands!?"

That being said, from what I gather JoJo 2012 was only really done as part of the 25th anniversary. Yes they teased all 8 JoJo's but JoJo was a risky endeavor anime wise after the last movie, they didn't intend to get Part 3 greenlit initially as you can see for example to TV broadcast of episode 26 doesn't have a to be continued arrow with Jotaro but the BD release when they probably knew they'd be making Part 3 does. So! Knowing that they probably wanted to cover Parts 1 and 2 in as quick a way as possible since they never got a true/decent adaptation and even if DP didn't adapt part 3 their anime plus the OVAs would make a "complete" story.

As for the stand issue. I feel your pain. Not saying I agree but I know what it's like when you're following the series and something as important as the power dynamic drastically changes. But stick with it! Ripple was great fun but there was really know where else Araki could've gone with it after Part 2 and stands are fresh and make some great fights that eclipse some of the best part 1 and 2 fights. The first few are basic because Araki was still figuring out how to make stands work but once he gets it it's great and you'll see why everyone else loves stands!

Also, with your Shaman King remark just remember what came first.

I know Jojo came well before Shaman King, but it's the only thing I can think of to make a comparison.

Risky or not, now that it is receiving an anime I hope it goes all the way to part eight and up to whatever is current in the future because we probably won't see anything manga wise outside of Stardust in North America.
