Ever since I seen most of the entire series, I consider it to be one of my most important modern anime in recent years. It has the right formula. The screenplay, the direction, art design, characters, depth, seiyuu and soundtrack. Every now and then I keep wondering how the studio SHAFT (you're damn right) have created such a complex and masterful series full of mystery, wits and artistic nature.

Right now, just Kill la Kill, I'm thinking of asking u, my anime brethren, if given a chance, how and who would you cast the class of characters that has kept us in our hearts since 2010. Which company you think should handle the english dubbing of the series and who should be cast as and why. Whether it's Funi, Bang Zoom or Neon Alley, anyone is at your disposal. List it out and see who has the best casting. Could be fun.

Right I'll leave this topic alone see if u guys are down with it or prefer something better.

PS:

JYB for Araragi-kun. ;)

I would want to take a stab at dubbing it myself in house on the cheap and make a deal with someone like Crunchyroll to secure the license and handle distribution.

I co founded a video production company with a friend of mine and I live in a college town with a lot of surprisingly skilled out of work actors who we have good standing with. We also have access to pretty good studio space run by a sound technician friend of mine. And my previous company worked in translating Japanese publishing materials so I know some great translators as well.

I feel like a lot of dubs just get churned out as fast as possible without a lot of quality control going on for the writing, and I would love to try my hand at it someday. Especially for something like the Monogatari series which I'm a huge fan of, it would feel good to have a hand at bringing it to life for a wider audience.

It seems a bit limiting to make a thread talking about who you'd want to see dub a single anime, why not just make a thread for all of them in general?

I mean I've never seen any Monogatari so maybe it's just my own bias, but... I'd love to talk about who I'd want to be in the dub for some shows, I think about that stuff more than I probably reasonably should.

I couldn't imagine Monogatari any other way than with it's current cast. have them all learn english and dub it instead of changing anything.

If this is just all hypothetical then nevermind, but as Aniplex has already licensed and released this in the US in both DVD and BD, wouldn't a dub be pretty strange? Have they gone back and dubbed anything post the initial release?

It will if it's given fuel.

Sorry, but "have the japanese cast learn english and make them do it" is a cliche I've heard one too many times and it basically makes no sense whatsoever even if it's not meant seriously.

oh, I was completely serious. the cast that they chose did a brilliant job, and I wouldn't want them replaced by ANYBODY. not by a foreign dub cast (no matter the language), and not by another domestic japanese cast, either. if they just decided to just up and replace someone for some reason, I wouldn't be happy about it at all.

There are so many Japanese puns and situations that it would be extremely difficult to dub it.

Coming from someone who will 9.9/10 times choose a dub over a sub if there's a choice there, I think it's best just being left subbed, honestly. While watching the show it's literally the only anime I've ever thought would be ruined were it to receive a dub. I mean sure, making it more accessible would be great, but as to who could do it, I've not a clue.
