I personally hate the term yolo. It just sounds stupid. Swag I don't mind as much when used moderately.

They're what this generation is saying so of course they are dumb. But if you can't beat them join them My friends and I always use them as a joke. We know it sounds so stupid so we can't help it.

Yolo stands for 'You Only Live Once'.

Basically a bastardized method of saying 'Carpe diem'. That phrase has been around for centuries but somewhere along the way someone was like "pfft, sophistication" and yelled Yolo as s/he took a nose dive off a bridge into a vat of piranha's or something just as dumb.

I hate the "word" Yolo. I also hate Drake, probably because someone told me I look like him...and his music is crappy.

I mostly hear people using them ironically as a joke. I don't really see what the big deal is, I mean, it's not hurting anyone. Might potentially damage the intelligence of future generations, but that's not my problem. :T

I might use "swag" once in a while but I was never one to say "yolo" and I'm a person who was raised on slanguage.

Personally, I can't stand either one of them but it's just another addition to the pile of terms that have come before them.

Every generation seems to create it's own way of saying things, and I've found kind of a list of terms/slang going back to the 1920's:
