are filler episodes really that bad ?
Posted 4/15/14
Fillers are what make anime and people who skip it are really stupid. I know quite a few people who skip tons of episodes because it's a 'filler' but fillers are needed. Without fillers the anime would end so much quicker and for me that's a bad thing. Most fillers actually have a really good plot so no fillers aren't bad at all, in fact they are a really good thing.

Btw DevouringDragon you say filler is good but I by judging from your profile pic you've probably watched soul eater and half of that show is just filler and bad one at it so I doubt filler is good

Though I stopped Soul Eater at that point, I actually think fillers where at a certain point the anime goes on a different direction are making the best of a bad situation. They aren't fillers in the classical or anime sense. They aren't in between points A and B or trying to buy time.

The original FMA going on that different path, which later made Brother Hood wanted (which I've never watched), is how I prefer my "filler".

I did dislike their comment of calling non-filler watchers stupid... I dislike filler because it just brings about elitism. "Hardcore fans watch all filler - all adventures of their favorite characters" and "Hardcore fans just wants to see the manga animated". I commented much earlier on those, but it failed me to mention that.

For me, the worst filler I have seen has to be in bleach. Im sure all the people who have watched bleach know what Arc I am talking about (New captain Syūsuke Arc). They were in the middle of the arrancar arc just getting into hueco mundo and then BAM! this runaway princess shit comes in. Zero reason to even have that arc.

No, but that isn't to say that a filler can't be bad. The people who seem to complain most are the ones who also read the manga. I've read a share of manga, but enjoy seeing things in motion more than still images so I just opt to watch the animation. So I couldn't care less if there's filler or not. I do roll my eyes at the complainers. If you don't like the filler, either stop watching the animation and stick to your manga or pick up afterwards, however long it may be. Complaining about it when you keep up with the manga is rather moronic.

If it's just that bad, complain justified. I would go as far as to say that disinterest could be justifiable in some instances. Impatience, not a chance.

Not all filler is bad. but neither is it all good. Too much can be bad, not enough can just be as bad.

Where I usually dislike filler is when it is in a short 12-24 episode show. Usually, not always, but usually shows in that length need every episode to push the plot along. Now I don't mind when they are doing multiple things in an episode... such as it starts as a filler perhaps but then by the end pulls itself back on track.

But when an entire episode, or multiple episodes, are just filler and don't do anything towards the plot in a shorter series, it tends to leave a bad review from me.

Luckily filler is far and few between in the shorter Animes, and the long runners which are rampant with filler, are not usually to my liking even BEFORE filler becomes a part of the situation, so I rarely deal with filler.

I love the filler episodes, they are more fun and its just a nice break from the constant story line, its a fun time and great stories that one wouldn't thing the characters would go in.

If Naruto/Shippuden didn't have fillers, how short in episodes would it be?! The same goes for Bleach and One Piece.

Not all filler is bad, but what usually kills peoples tolerance of them is their length. Case in point: the Naruto fillers following the Pain arc--far too many with little appeal in the episodes in themselves.

Yes filler is awful. A story needs to be told and thats it. Leave the filler to movies and specials.
