I can see what you're saying about attack on titan and the voices not fitting but it's because I'm too used to the japanese voices right now, but they actually do pronounce Mikasa's name right. It's suppose to be Mi-kuh-suh not Mi-kah-sah. I thought they pronounced it wrong at first too but I went back to the japanese ver. and watched a clip of when they say Mikasa's name and they say it like how funimation says it. Don't believe me? Here's a clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1jDgwysPcA
!

1. I am not fluent in nihongo
2. i how ever am proficient in basic pronunciation.
3. A is prounced like the a in father.

Mikasa is me-kah-sah. Not me-kuh-suh.
I rechecked the audio clip you posted, everyone who said her name prounced it me-kah-sah, even when she was speaking in third person she prounced it correctly. If it was meant to be pronounced me-kuh-suh it would be romanized as mikusu and not mikasa.
Try: okasa, kasa, mikasa. They should all pretty much sound the same with the exception of that first syllable .
Hope this helps!

I like Funimation a lot!

Reasons:

1. Their home releases are actually pretty cheap when compared to companies like Aniplex. Also Amazon often has them for sale prices.
2. The Elite service works wonderful now on roku.
3. The catalog is big and paying $8 a month to go back and watch Dragon Ball or Full Metal Panic with 6-8 new simulcast a season is nice and saves you money if you were to buy numerous home releases in a year.
4. Dubs allows me to half follow a show and have some background noise when I'm doing other work.

My biggest grip with Funimation currently is that they still don't have a good way to track where you are in a series. And, when a series has 26 or more episodes, it can make it hard to watch.

Actually, if you add shows to your queue on FUNimation's website, you can keep track of what episodes you are on for each series. It works the same way as adding shows to your queue on Crunchyroll or Hulu. Though it is more difficult to navigate on FUNi's site.

To add a show to your queue, you must first create an account or log in to your existing account. You are able to create a free account and need not pay for an Elite Video Subscription (EVS) if you don't want that. Once you are registered and logged in under your username, find any video thumbnail image from the series you wish to watch. Next scroll your cursor over the thumbnail image of the video and click the "+" icon which reads "Add to Queue." You should then see two options, pick the bottom one "Add Show to Queue" and it will add all episodes of that series to your queue. Then if you go up to the top of the page and click your username you should see a link to your queue.

After you watch an episode from your queue it will be removed and the latest episode will take its place. If you have already watched some episodes in the series before you add the show to your queue, then simply add the whole series to the queue and delete the episodes you've seen already. You can delete the ones you've already seen by clicking the check box next to them and the trash can icon up above below the series title. Continue on from there to keep track for viewing later.

Hope this helps!

It seems you have been possessed by the spirit of an anime fan from the '90s who had to collect DBZ on VHS and had to keep buying new tapes because there was a censored / TV release, an uncensored dub release, and an uncensored sub release for each bundle of three episodes. Think of how many tapes that would be, even considering that DBZ did not yet have a complete release of all its episodes.

There were reasons to hate Funi back in the day. Believe me, there were.

Only reason why i hate Funimation is because they are sitting there with the rights to Detective Conan and doing absolute shit with it. Just fucking pisses me off that a great series like that cant even reach its full fame in US because funimation stopped at 100 something episode

Hating on Funimation for no real reason? What is there to hate? Yup, let us hate the company that gets us the MOST anime for home release, and who DOESN'T make the wallet hurt the same way. Maybe back in the day they had issues, but so did most of the US industry as a whole back ten or so years ago. Those days are over.

Look, when I can buy ALL of Psycho-Pass for about $60, and ALL of Steins;Gate for about the same price (thank you Amazon sales), in a Blu-Ray/DVD Combo pack, I have no reason to hate them. It isn't like they are Aniplex who charge $100+ for 12 episodes. :/ Also, their dub work is usually tolerable or pretty good, unlike a lot of others. Some are bad, but it just comes with the territory, and no one is forcing you to watch the dubs anyway. Baccano sure is better dubbed, I know THAT much... :/

The only real complaint I can understand is that their streaming service is not as good as CRs. Which, of course, the problems can be worked out in the future the longer the service goes.

Don't hate FUNi, in fact I have a sub over there as well since they have plenty of great shows and between FUNi and CR I am supporting Anime here in the states and get like 90-95% of everything that airs per season. the last 5-10% being orphaned shows. Plus both have great catalogs so if I ever need a nostalgia trip FUNi can usually help there.

This has been the biggest, most consistent, gripe anyone has had against funimation.... since atleast... ah.... if memory serves correctly... 2006-2008. As CR has grown an gained a foot hold in the industry that attitude from funi has changed. If we keep complaining to funi and put our collective feet down they might also change that attitude (about sitting on the rights to something).

From what i remember going on:
Late 2006...
Internets: We don't like you sitting for 4 yrs on the rights to something. Some of us also want it dubbed, but if i takes you 4yrs to do that atleast stream it online with subs for those who want it that way.
Funi: stream stuff online? But we'll lose money. No one will use the service.
Funi: Hey look! someone is streaming something online! that we own the rights to! Quick sue them and have them take the videos down! Sue website.com!!!!
Internets: But we were watching that. When will you stream it online?
100,000 viewers from website.com: Uhhh...... we were watching that..... do you have it online for streaming?
Funi: No, that's a waste of money, no one will use that service.
100,000: ok.... when are you releasing it for viewing on tv? what about dvd's?
Funi: when we get around to it......
Internets/100,000: ............................ seriously?

That's how I remember it. Correct me if I'm wrong other Anime watchers, but this seems like the likeliest reason for all the Funi-hate from those that watch back in the day.

People don't have 4 years to wait sometimes. Our lives are busy, so we need it when we still have the time. Definitely a main reason why Funi might be disliked.

That is not always the case. They may not have the rights to the rest of the series. Funimation had the same problem with One Piece, they only had rights up to episode 207 because Toei was not willing to release more episodes to the States.

This has less to due with Funimation and more to due with the Japanese studios. It is the Japanese studios who decide what formats can be used. Funimation couldn't stream videos because their contract was for physical media only at the time. And like Hollywood, the Japanese studios were not big fans of streaming services either.

If we're still talking Titan. Only thing that bugs me about Eren is that it's basically Kirito Karigaya and I dislike that male mary sue.

I just need to think of him as Rin instead

On Funimation's side. The only thing I would want is for me to be able to watch some english dubs on their site without needing to be an EVS person. Which is why I like this site more. I could be a subscriber and watch anime in HD. But I can also be a regular person and watch shows for free with some advertisements in them And HD isn't all that a big deal for me. In fact it hurts my computer internet speed.

The fact that I can watch a ton of their stuff subbed on Youtube is enough for me to like them...just finished watching the first season of Mushi-shi so I can watch along with the new season.

I like Funi more for their dubs than their subs. That's my issue with not much dubs being streamed for free other than DBZ. (Most of the subtitled stuff I can find here )
