has there been a manga that you have come across that your really liked but wasn't as well known or popular? a manga that you decided to read on a whim but it hooked you and has you wanting more?

one manga that I really liked that some might not have seen or have passed over is Crime Zone, it's a horror manga and on the site I use it's ranked 427th, it only has 13 chapters released but it got me hooked.

Shuumatsu no Laughter was amazing to me. It is only 5 chapters long and ranked 777th on the site I use, but it is so good. I really wish that it was longer.

Won't speak of darkside sites, because other than for Nisekoi, I haven't kept up, or even looked for, new Manga from them in months.

A series I ran across at the bookstore though was Vinland Saga. Didn't seem like your typical Manga, given its size for one thing, but also it's story (Vikings and what not). But so far it has been an amazing read, and i'm looking forward to anymore of it I can grab.

Nana to Kaoru. I don't know if people don't know about it or just don't like to admit they know about it. I'm not into S&M at all, but my god that manga

Also Zero In. I started reading it last year, then suddenly the translations stopped and I was so sad. Then, suddenly, like a gift from anime god(whichever one you hail) chapters started coming out again last month.

Yubisaki milk tea as well. I'm not a fan of crossdressing(I'm also very much against it) but the story and characters where pretty interesting.

I bought Kieli on whim because I liked the art work when browsing it. I knew nothing about it and it is one of my favorites in my collection. I can't really think of anything else =/.

I don't know if it's well known in the US, but the manhwa Ciel is quite good I think. No one I've ever mentioned it to has heard of it anyway.

Then there's Jitsu wa Watashi wa which I started a thread on. I really love this manga and I'm guessing it's not well known at all.

Actually, considering the amount of manga I read, I could make a laundry list here, but I'll leave off with those two.

REAL by Takehiko Inoue. It should have gotten Vagabond Status.

Although i recently just found out that it got a million sales per volume...Still not popular enough though

I really like obscure manga/manhua/manhwa (esp. historical) for some reason. I'll list the ones that are most recent/ that i can remember atm
Otoyomegatari, "A Bride's Story", is a refreshing story about daily life in nomadic (?) tribes during the 19th century. The art is really beautiful and detailed. The patterns on their clothing are really amazing.

Chouka Kou is a manhua about a princess in the Tang Dynasty attempting to take revenge on her uncle who took over the throne after killing her parents. The main character is resourceful and smart, unlike your average heroine. She's also not super obsessed about revenge like Sasuke or something. There's some philosophy, too...

Vinland Saga is a really awesome manga about the Viking ages. It seems pretty historically accurate for most parts, as Vikings act like Vikings.

Blood and Steel is a martial arts manhua(?) with really awesome art and fights but weird story telling

Akagami no Shirayukihime appears as twist on "Snow White" at first, it evolves into its own cute, love story with a strong, interesting heroine. The clothing is really well designed.

Gunkan no Baltzar is a historical military focused manga which occurs in a fictional Europe. I think the timeline's around the 19th century..
