Sword Art Online was the first series I've ever watched. That's what got me to get hooked. Then Fairy Tail and Naruto got me obsessed. Now Im watching One Piece and Hunter x Hunter and love it even more! Who can forget Attack on Titan too lol (Btw I started watching anime just over a year ago so Im still new to the industry compared to some other people.)

I need to expand my explanation from the other post. I only followed Naruto when it aired on Toonami once the other shows I mentioned finished. Then in 2012, someone on Twitter mentioned CR and my first show to watch was Another and I was hooked on watching bunches of anime shows since then.

I only used to follow Naruto and Bleach and had watched stuff like Death Note, Code Geass and SAO, but then hearing the hype from Attack on Titan I decided to watch it, then I found Log Horizon and then somehow ended up with ~15 simulcasts each week xD

I don't remember if it was Darker than Black, Suzuka, Madoka, or School Days. Different genres I watched around the same time. Got me hooked.

Otaku: Someone obsessed with something to the point of lacking a social life. Usually synonymous with the term Hikikomori.
Sounds pretty good to me.

The term is used wrong then. Hikikomori is different. Otaku just means nerd. You can be an anime otaku, sports otaku, breasts otaku. Hikikomori means shut-in, house security guard, or suffering from social withdrawal.

I know that. Just meant that it is often assimilated with the term Hikikomori, not always.
While Otaku can definitely enjoy going out of their house, they are usually considered outcasts and completely ignored and insulted by society, which usually leads to them becoming Hikikomori. (Which by the way I shall say on a personal note, I did not become a Hikikomori because of it, find it idiotic that people let society's opinions get to them).

Suzuka was the first anime one of my friends who is into anime showed me, and it quite literally almost scared me away from the entire genre. It took said friend recommending Fairy Tail and Code Geass to get me hooked.

Probably either Voltron, Dinozaurs or Digimon back in the late 90s.

I don't consider myself an Otaku at all actually (since I do a lot of things that an otaku wouldn't dare to do), but more just a fan of anime.

Back in the way day, I watched Toonami when I was kid and I was defiitely interested in it but I never really tried to get into anime. I liked Naruto a lot and I watched a good chunck of it when it was airing on Toonami/Cartoon Network. Then they got rid of it and I just didn't bother looking for it after that.

Then some time in 2007 I was scrolling through Youtube and ran into a Naruto Shippuuden episode. All my past emotions about Naruto came back to me and I started to follow the sub version (first time I ever watched any subbed anime), but that was the only anime I watched for 5 years. I thought all other anime were "too weird" so I avoided everything except for Naruto.

Towards the end of 2012 one of my friends pressured me to watch Gurren Lagann and that just opened my eyes to what anime can really be.

Watching Gurren Lagann was like was taking a bite of the Apple of Eden, I couldn't believe that I only watched Naruto for so long. I've been a fan of anime ever since, and I've been catching up on the all the shows I've been missing out on for all these years.

Dude me too! I've basically only been seriously watching since 2012 (my other post explains everything). So just a little over a year for me.

I don't think I'm obsessed enough to be considered an otaku.
