^ As the above said, to get the static out, you have to edit out the transparency in Photoshop. I'm not sure how to do it with Gimp.

Alternatively, you could just upload your gifs to a sit like TinyPic and copy the url onto CR instead of directly uploading the image. That's what I usually do. Just right click the image, copy, and paste the link between (url) and (/url), but use brackets instead of parentheses. Simple.

You're going to have to be a little more thorough w/ those steps. I don't know how to change my profile picture w/o uploading an image.

With GIMP you just have to unoptimise it (Filters>Animation>Unoptimise) to get rid of the static

Tried that. There's still static.

Well, unfortunately, it won't work with a profile pic. I was taking about imbedding gifs into a forum post. Also, I made a mistake. You put the link between img and /img, not url and /url.

For a profile pic on CR I think you need to make sure the gif is square (100x100, 254x254, etc.)
Not sure what else could be the problem :/

I should have specified that I wanted working gifs for my avatar. My apologies.

No problem. I can't really help you in that case.

I find my GIF's on Tumblr and google searches (which often just lead back to tumblr). I have a "few" GIF's collected up... like 150-200 range. Of those maybe... 50-70 work on CR because I resized them, or used some program to edit them. I think I have like 20 on my Profile right now...

One thing about GIF for Avatars is making sure it is the correct square size to fit. Otherwise you'll get white lines, or it being too small... etc etc.

In short, gettings GIF's to work can sometimes be annoying (unless you are really tech savvy maybe). Unfortunately short of just resizing them I don't know much else to get them to work.

I actually did a little snooping around on the forums and found this awesome gif resizer program. I think I just solved all of my problems. Thanks for the insight though! I appreciate everyone's feedback!

Almost didn't recognize that Mushi-shi gif :)

Is that the one from the eclipse? I could be wrong though.

Awesome. :)

I'm glad you found something that finally worked for you. Since you have a clean source image on your computer, I'm sure your program is just doing the steps that I do manually with Photoshop, or others said to do with GIMP. All I know is there isn't much I can do with a CR image that contains static.

Have fun with your images.

I wasn't upset at you or anything, I guess I was a little disappointed after I found out you couldn't help me. But I guess you could say that pushed me to go out and look for something and I finally found that something I appreciate it friend. I definitely will!
