I watched anime here and there when Funimation had a channel on VerisonFios, but the first few I actually watched were xxxholic, soul eater, and school rumble. XxxHolic was the first anime my sister and I both liked and watched together.

Excluding shows like Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Sailor Moon and shows like that which I watched as a child

Occult Academy was the one that really got me into the anime scene

Started watching Mew Mew Power dubbed a while back but stopped after my mom called it "a girl show." Continued it two years ago but ran into a snag when I reached the end of the dubs. After some debating, decided to finish watching the rest sub and found the experience enjoyable, so I decided to see what other anime was out there.

Dragon Ball
Naruto
Inuyasha

Pretty much whatever I had the pleasure of watching on public television.

The ones that made me see what Anime could truly be.

Clannad
Angel Beats

I started Death Note and just couldn't get into it because I was watching it subbed. For a newbie to anime, that was a real turn off. I tried again with Eden of the East subbed and didn't have much luck with that series either. I did finish it, but it was still a tough pill to swallow. Everything changed when my friend (the same person who had recommended Death Note and Eden of the East subbed) turned me onto Soul Eater dubbed. That show is the reason why I love anime today.

Princess Mononoke for me. Stumbled across it on Showtime or HBO ten or so years ago. Went and bought it the next day. Also DBZ but I was so young I did not realize it was even anime.

Well, there was stuff like Pokemon and Dragonball when I was a kid, but it just fit into the general 'cartoon' category. Though my brother and I always made sure to tape Dragonball Z if we were going to be away when it was on....

As a not child person, I stumbled across Vision of Escaflowne somewhere and watched that. I think that was the first Anime I watched in Japanese. Crazy stuff. I guess I still have a sort of sentimental feeling about it because of when I watched it. It definitely changed things for me. Usually I do puzzles or other things while watching tv, so subbed stuff was kind of... not interesting, but I was convinced that it might be worth my while. Hooray!
