I would like to know if someone can cancel the auto-recur on my membership, but leave the membership. This way I don't have to worry about forgetting. I checked my settings page but can't seem to find anything myself.

Just cancel your membership, you'll still be a Premium Member until your next billing period.

Unless something has changed very recently, that is not true. If you have less than 30 days left before your next billing, canceling will immediately cancel the premium membership--not just the recurring payment. The way to ensure that your recurring payment is canceled, and still retain the remaining days of the premium membership is to contact support directly using the "Contact Us" form (which asharka provided the link for).

If you /contact customer support, they may be able to re-add the remaining days before your cancellation back onto your account.

Haha just came looking to see if anyone else had similar problems with this. Cancelled so I wouldn't be billed for next month and boy was I in for a surprise when my membership was instantly downgraded. This is a really predatory business practice and tells me not to resub ever.

From my understanding, when you go to cancel there is an interim screen warning you of this but most people fail to read and just click to proceed.

You can contact customer service to have your remaining membership time restored.

And that's kinda stupid, you either cancel the membership or you don't. Cancelling and restoring it again if you contact support is stupid.

Restoring the time that was remaining, not your membership renewal.

And that's what I'm talking about... (sorry, english is not my first language :P)

I'm saying that CR cancelling your current subscription since the moment you cancel renewal is stupid if they're going to restore it anyway if you contact support.

It is to overcome a combination of a problem with how CR's cancellation process is set up (no doubt to combat free trail abuse, but failing to differentiate free trials from paid subscriptions) and customers not bothering to read.

Even Bjaker from customer service is on record as saying he doesn't like the way it currently works, but customer service isn't in charge of website coding.

I agree that costumers don't read, that's completely true.

But this is not a new issue, It's been like this for 2-3 years at least, they should fix it already!

I know is not Bjaker's fault, but hey, he should say to whoever is in charge "there are customers complaning in the forums over this issue, and that gives a bad image to the site, please do something about it".
